It seems as though Broadway will be chuck full of Dancing with the Stars alum during the break, as another one, this time season 7 winner Derek Hough, waltzes to appear on the production of Burn the Floor at the Longacre Theater on January 8. It’s Hough’s Broadway debut.

The Broadway production will close on January 10, but a world tour will begin in late February 2010, a massive one that will travel to 30 American cities. Created, directed, and choreographed by Jason Gilkison, Burn the Floor blends Latin and Ballroom dances. Hough, 24, is a former world champion in Latin American Dance, and we have Dancing with the Stars to thank for showing us what this guy can do on a ballroom stage.

Hough, who this season partnered with Joanna Kruppa, will pair up with Donny Osmond’s partner and champion Kym Johnson. In a way, he’ll be a replacement to another Dancing with the Stars pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy who’ll play his final performance on January 7. The big guy previously partnered with Johnson.

This is by no means Hough’s first foray in theater. His credits include a starring role in the West End production of Footloose.
