Caroline Manzo, who has been one of the stars of The Real Housewives of New Jersey since its inception in 2009, will not be back for season 6, according to Us Weekly.

Caroline is fresh off the announcement of her Bravo spin-off, Manzo’d with Children, so news of her departure from RHONJ isn’t necessarily alarming.

“Caroline leaving is a natural progression,” an inside source told E! News. “As to the reason why, it will become clearer to viewers in the season finale and the reunion episodes why this was the right decision at the right time for her.”

The season 5 finale airs this Sunday and will be followed by the reunion in two parts on the two following Sundays. The reunions have been known to bring out the worst in all of the cast members, but things have gotten especially emotional and ugly for Caroline in the past.

A Bravo spokesperson has declined to comment on Caroline’s departure, and the show has not officially been given the greenlight for season 6. The show’s future may be more uncertain now than it has been in the past, given Teresa Giudice‘s legal troubles.

“[Caroline’s] pilot has been filmed and she’s definitely still part of the Bravo family,” the insider said.

Manzo’d with Children will follow Caroline; her husband, Albert; and their three grown children, Albie, Chris and Lauren, through their chaotic everyday life. Other Real Housewives who have gotten the spin-off treatment include Bethenny Frankel, Kim Zolciak, Lisa Vanderpump and NeNe Leakes.
