Did Grey’s Anatomy star, Isaiah Washington, physical on-set altercation with fellow Grey’s Anatomy hunk, Patrick Dempsey, break down the closet door for T.R. Knight? The timing between the physical confrontation between the two Grey’s Anatomy actors and T.R. Knight admitting that he was gay definitely raises eye brows and fans internet rumors that the two events are related.
Briefly, what occurred on October 9, was that T.R. Knight was late to a shoot for Grey’s Anatomy. Patrick Dempsey insisted on waiting for Knight while Isaiah Washington did not see eye to eye with Dempsey point of view. The disagreement quickly became heated with rumors that Isaiah Washington uttering a homophobic slur before T.R. Knight arrived on the set. Interesting enough, T.R. Knight publicly came out of the closet on October 19. Rumors swirl that T.R. Knight’s sexual orientation was going to become more public especially with the fight between Washington and Dempsey on the Grey’s Anatomy set. So to keep everyone focused and to put rumors to rest before they boiled over, T.R. Knight came out on the 19th- only 10 days after Washington’s alleged homophobic slur.
For his part, Isaiah Washington apologized by saying, “I sincerely regret my actions and the unfortunate use of words during the recent incident on (the) set.” He added that “Both are beneath my own personal standards. … I have nothing but respect for my co-workers … and have apologized personally to everyone involved.” Maybe it was a serendipitous turn of events for T.R. Knight to get that burden off his chest; however, I hope that Knight was comfortable and felt that he was coming out on his own terms and timetable.
