Amidst all the talk about the most awkward date in the history of The Bachelor, Kelsey Poe has had a change of heart when it comes to her career. The recently eliminated contestant from the ABC reality dating series quit her job as a school counselor and is now pursuing writing in Paris.

According to MLive, Poe made an appearance before a crowd at a viewing party for The Bachelor on Monday night. She was unable to give direct media interviews since she’s still under contract but that didn’t stop her from talking about her sentiments and her plans for the future.

Poe, a widow who was under fire for saying that her story “was amazing,” also took the opportunity to address her controversial statements on The Bachelor

“That wasn’t amazing. That was tragic,” Poe said of husband Sanderson’s death. “That still breaks my heart. What’s amazing is the love that I had with him. What’s amazing is that he helped me become who I am today because of the man that he was and the character he had. What makes my life amazing is that I picked up the pieces of my shattered life and I put them back together….I still have the capacity in my heart to love again.”

“That’s humanity. It can’t all be roses, dress up, hair weaves and fake lashes,” added the 28-year-old Hudsonville native, who was most likely referencing her two-on-one date nemesis Ashley.

Poe says her “adventure continues” as she takes a different career path as a writer.

“I’m blessed with the ability to express myself and use my words,” she claimed. “I noticed my blog was starting to have an impact. But if you’re going to be a writer, you might as well be a writer in Paris.”
