After four years of playing Dusty Donovan, Grayson McCouch has reportedly decided to leave As the World Turns early next year.  Though the departure of the 39-year-old actor hasn’t been officially announced, various sources have hinted on the news.

Giving more confirmation to McCouch’s exit is co-star Cady McClain’s blog post last week.  In the article, the 38-year-old actress, who plays Rosanna Cabot on As the World Turns, has been vocal about her status on the long-running soap and has talked about her last day on the show.  She also mentions in the same post that her last day on the set, ironically, was the same as that of McCouch, who was presented with a cake and made his farewell speech to the cast and crew of the show.

So far, the main reason for McCouch’s departure on As the World Turns hasn’t been revealed.  But several speculations have already surfaced the media as to why he has decided to leave after his nearly five-year run with the show.  While a show insider claims that McCouch was asked to take a salary cut, other reports say that he just simply wanted to take a break from the soap.

Grayson joined the cast in 2003, becoming the second actor to portray Dusty Donovan since Brian Bloom left the show in 1988.  He got his start on television as Dr. Morgan Winthrop on Another World in 1993, before landing roles on Legacy and All Souls.  His film credits include Sins of the Mind, Armageddon, and Momentum, just to name a few.  Last year, he was honored for his work on As the World Turns with an Outstanding Support Actor Daytime Emmy nod.

The news about McCouch’s exit isn’t exactly something new.  Earlier this year, he was rumored to be leaving the show when he landed a lead role on a drama series called The Apostles. Unfortunately, FOX decided not to pick up the series for its fall schedule so he remained with As the World Turns.
