Last season, Whitney Thompson became the first plus size winner of America’s Next Top Model. She walked away with the grand prize which included representation by Elite Model Management, a $100,000 contract with CoverGirl cosmetics, a billboard in Times Square with her CoverGirl ad, and a cover and six-page spread within Seventeen magazine. During the current cycle of Top Model, which recently ended, Whitney’s “My Life As A Cover Girl” ads ran in which she was shown doing everything from going on open casting calls to trying out the latest Cover Girl products to spending quality time with friends and family. This week, Whitney teamed up with Fashion Bug to offer up advice on putting together a stellar outfit for the holidays.

“Glamorous, bold looks and colors are in this season,” Whitney said. “And since most stores are having great sales, with a little creativity, you can put together a look that makes you feel like a million bucks, but still fits your budget.” The Top Model winner named some favorite items in her wardrobe, including a pleated dress and a nice, tailored top. Before heading out to the stores, though, Whitney suggested people stop and check what they own first. “Go shopping in your own closet first,” said Whitney. “Pair a tailored pant with a festive new blouse. By topping off with jewelry and heels, you’ve put together the perfect New Year’s party outfit.”

In October, Chaming Shoppes Inc., which owns Fashion Bug and Lane Bryant, announced that Whitney Thompson would serve as fashion ambassador.  She is the spokesperson for Right Fit, an innovation in fit that allows women of every shape to buy the perfect pair of jeans or pants to fit their curves.
