Biography

An American actor, Josh Lucas was born on June 20, 1971 as Joshua Lucas Easy Dent Maurer. His birthplace is Little Rock, Arkansas and grew up traveling the South with his parents and younger siblings. In 1989, he graduated from Gig Harbor High School where he started acting in school plays. To pursue his acting career, he did not attend college.

Josh Lucas earned wider exposure through his role as Jake Perry in the 2002 romantic comedy, Sweet Home Alabama, where he acted alongside Reese Witherspoon. Other than appearing in several TV series, Josh Lucas played a relatively-unknown role as Jace “Flash” Dillon in the PC flight simulator Wing Commander III: Heart of the Tiger, a sci-fi action film. He can also be seen as Lt. Macy in the 1997 Cracker, with Josh Hartnett. Lucas also portrayed Hansen in Ron Howard’s A Beautiful Mind. He displayed his diversity in acting by branching out into films like the 2003 hit Hulk, as Talbot. Josh Lucas was also in the Terence Malick-produced film Undertow. He continued appearing in other films like the thriller Wonderland and on Glory Road, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, where Josh acted with Jon Voight. Following that was a role with Morgan Freeman and Robert Redford in An Unfinished Life. In 2005, he played Lt. Ben Gannon in Stealth, alongside many noteworthy actors. That same year, he starred opposite Jessica Lange of Broadway fame in the revival of Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie. Aside from films, Josh Lucas was also in The Picture of Dorian Grey at the Los Angeles Theater Center. He also starred in Terence McNally’s Corpus Christi at the Manhattan Theatre Club.

Lucas has also completed his collaboration with documentary filmmaker, Ken Burns on The War. Other documentaries to his credit include Operation Homecoming: The Wartime Experience, Trumbo and Resolved, all in 2007. Josh Lucas also has his own production company called Two Bridges.

Other roles of Lucas include those in films like Shadows and Lies, Life as We Know It, and Daydream Nation. In 2011, he was seen in the movies J. Edgar and Red Dog, as well as accepting the role of Mitch McDeere in the NBC series The Firm.
