Biography

Cuban-American Eva Tamargo, who was born on December 24, 1960 in Brooklyn, New York, is best known for portraying Pilar Lopez-Fitzgerald on NBC’s soap opera Passions. The daughter of Cuban journalist Augustin Tamargo and Rosalba Nápoles, Tamargo was married from 1985 to 2003 to Michael Lemus, who fathered her children Matthew and Gabriela. She was also popularized in the international Latino community for her work on daytime television, mostly for her portrayal in El Magnate. Tamargo has also worked on television, radio and print commercial and has performed numerous times on stage with the Repertorio Español in New York City. While not acting, she is involved in horseback riding, volleyball, skiing, ice skating and tennis.

Pilar Lopez-Fitzgerald is portrayed by Eva Tamargo in the soap opera, Passions. The matriarch of the Lopez-Fitzgerald family was born in Mexico and moved to Harmony in her twenties after marrying her husband Martin Fitzgerald at the age of 18. Pilar then became a handmaid of the Winthrops and was assigned to personally take care of Ivy when she was a small child. When Ivy grew up and married Julian Crane, Pilar moved into the Crane household. Martin left her shortly after her youngest child, Paloma, was born. She sent Paloma to her sister Maria in Mexico and was left with four other children below ten. The Lopez-Fitzgerald was soon kicked out of their home on Crane grounds but Pilar refused to leave Ivy, whom she has served for so many years.
