Biography

Beth Chamberlin, who was born on October 1, 1963 in Danville, Vermont, studied ballet in the American Ballet Theater before moving on to New York University to become a dance and theater major. She then moved on to a number of regional theater performances such as those in The Taming of the Shrew, Godspell, Flowers for Algernon and You Can’t Take It With You.

In 1989, Beth Chamberlin was cast to play her best known role, as Beth Raines Spaulding on the CBS soap opera Guiding Light. She was the second actress to take up the part, leaving the set in 1991 only to return in 1997. From 2001to 2002, she accepted the role of Lorelei Hills, Beth’s disassociative identity disorder personality on the show. The actress later wrote the book Lorelei’s Guiding Light: An Intimate Diary, based on the series. It was published by St. Martin’s Press, and was written as a back-story for a Guiding Light storyline. Some of Chamberlain’s other appearances have been on films like The Right Way, Best Shots, and The Big Picture. On television, she has played characters on Cashmere Mafia, Columbo, Silk Stalkings and Days of Our Lives. She has also appeared on a number of commercial campaigns, such as those for Curel, Sunny Delight, and Maalox. She is also the spokeswoman for Lysol cleaning products.

In October 2002, Chamberlain was featured on that time’s issue of Woman’s World. In 2008, she released “The Kettlebell Way to Your Perfect Body,” as well as launched the health and fitness website Beacon-Fitness.com. A certified kettlebell trainer, Chamberlain is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

She married Peter Roy in 1994, and the two of them are known to be skiing enthusiasts. Her other ventures involve volunteering for charities, being a board member for the Curtis R. Vance Foundation and delivers food for the “Meals on Wheels” program.
