Biography
Australian actor Anthony Simcoe was born on June 7, 1969. He graduated from the National Institute of Dramatic Arts in Sydney, Australia, and holds an MFA in Drama. He also specializes in actor training.
Anthony Simcoe was seen in minor roles during the early 1990s. He was in the series A Country Practice and Water Rats. He later filmed the Australian comedy Mr. Reliable, which was followed by another comedy, The Castle. In 1997, he landed the role of Ka D’Argo in the science fiction television series Farscape. This earned him international recognition, as well as a nomination for a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series in 2002. His career allowed him more television projects, and he has appeared on Chameleon, Oops!, Stingers, and The Lost World. In 2000, he was cast as Andrew Bell in the TV movie Dogwoman: Dead Dog Walking. He soon provided the voice for his Farscape character in the videogame, Farscape: The Game. In 2003, he was given a role in another television production, BlackJack, directed by one of Farscape directors, Peter Andrikidis. Simcoe’s stint on Farscape ended in 2003, but he is remembered for his portrayal of the powerful but imprisoned Luxan Warrior Ka D’Argo. It was the character’s fervent wish to be reunited with his son, Jothee. Simcoe was also seen as Ka D’Argo on the miniseries Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars in 2004. He next made an appearance on the series The Alice, and turned to films in 2006. He was in Solo by Morgan O’Neill, and the short fantasy film Midnight Screening by Annabel Osborne. Simcoe followed up his career with an episode of Chandon Pictures and East West 101, before landing a role in the family fantasy film Nim’s Island in 2008. The film stars Abigail Breslin, Jodie Foster, and Gerard Butler, with Simcoe playing the captain’s First Mate.
