Articles for True Blood Season 4

The fourth season of HBO‘s True Blood premiered tonight, and it was like a new pilot. The show jumped on year into the future, putting many of the characters in new places, and the show brilliantly established the new order. True Blood also succeeded in introducing a number of new characters, most importantly the terrifying new witch Marnie, who is perfectly scary. Throw in some more classic Pam moments and you have another strong start to this oh-so-fun vampire drama.  Read more »
Vampires have always been prevalent in the small screen, so hey, it was inevitable that we do a quiz about them. But we‘re also celebrating the premiere of True Blood‘s latest season, which gives us perfect timing to bring blood and bloodsuckers to your brains.  Read more »
We all know that drugs don‘t do you any good -- but I think the Botwins didn‘t get the memo, which explains Weeds‘ return for a seventh season on Showtime last night. And that‘s barely the first instance of drug use on TV: from the serious meth business on Breaking Bad to substitute sandwiches on How I Met Your Mother, narcotics have powered some of the best shows we‘ve ever seen. Read more »
Sunday‘s fourth season premiere of HBO‘s True Blood was a big one, and the ratings reflect that. The episode pulled in 5.42 million viewers, narrowly missing out on the show‘s all-time high of 5.44 million.  Read more »

It‘s Friday again, which means it‘s time to look back (again!) on another crazy week of television. We learned of a blast-from-the-past twist on Big Brother this year. We had a winner on The Voice. And weird things happened on the So You Think You Can Dance stage. Oh, and yes, you‘re right, there is a challenge coming -- this week‘s What Happened on TV? quiz! Read more »
In the season 4 premiere of True Blood, the show jumped forward one year and we found out Bill is the new Vampire King of Louisiana. How did that happen, you ask? This week we find out, and we also get to enjoy Jason having his clothes ripped off, Eric taking a shirtless midnight stroll down the road and more naked Sam than you can shake a stick at.  Read more »
These days, strong female characters dominate our television sets. But sometimes they go a little too far. There are bad girls we love, and there are those we just love to hate. On today‘s quiz, we‘re bringing you ten of TV‘s most cunning and manipulative ladies who have made a mark on our lives. We can‘t help but look up to them despite their ties to drugs, alcohol, sex and well, narcissism.   Read more »

Amnesia storylines are a hilariously absurd staple of any great soap opera, and since that‘s what True Blood is, that‘s what we get. This week we see the aftermath of Marnie wiping Eric‘s memory, and it‘s every bit as silly as you‘d expect. On the bright side, he spends the first half of the episode shirtless and the second half walking around in one of Jason‘s sleeveless hoodies.  Read more »
Another week of television has passed, which means it‘s time for us to act like our beloved grandparents: we sit back, we relax, and we look back. And we take a quiz that determines if we paid attention all these years -- or, in this case, all this week. It‘s pretty much like the crossword. Or Sudoku. You get the idea. Read more »

Some of the smaller Emmy categories are usually my favorites, and this year, the races for Guest Actor and Actress are filled with some superb performances. Glee scored three nominations for its guest actresses, including a surprising but deserving one for Dot-Marie Jones as Coach Beiste. And Saturday Night Live also dominated with three hosts scoring nominations.  Read more »
What‘s better than Eric and Alcide fighting over Sookie on True Blood? How about if they‘re both completely naked while doing it? Yes, this week, the ridiculous vampire soap opera is all about showing off Alcide‘s insanely ripped body when he comes to help Sookie with Amnesia Eric. After killing Claudine, Eric is drunk and giddy on fairy blood, and it also lets him walk in the sun. He runs away, so Sookie calls up Alcide to track him. Alcide proceeds to strip down to transform into a wolf, giving us a nice, long look at just how much Joe Manganiello works out.  Read more »

In many ways, I consider this week‘s episode of True Blood to be the real start of season 4. Jason is finally out of Hot Shot and back to the real world, and the season‘s big antagonist, Marnie, comes face-to-face with both Bill and Sookie. But most importantly, the most beloved character in the history of True Blood, Godric, makes his triumphant return.  Read more »

Moderated by Tim Stack (of Entertainment Weekly), the cast of True Blood proved to be one of the biggest attractions at the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con. With wait times to see the panel in Ballroom 20 exceeding even those of Hall H, the True Blood panelists addressed a packed house. Read more »
The full moon is a dangerous thing on True Blood, and not just because of the werewolves. This week, under the full moon, everybody goes a little mad. Jason has a break with reality in the woods, Jesus and Lafayette have a wild time in Mexico, Pam goes on the attack, Bill shows compassion, Tommy has a big change and the Evil Baby is more evil than ever. But we start with Eric and Sookie getting hot and heavy following their kiss, only to have big, bad King Bill interrupt the lovemaking. A fight ensues, but after learning who Bill is, Eric bows down before him and willingly goes to his basement prison.  Read more »
Last week was the panel for True Blood at the Television Critics Association Press Tour.  I was lucky enough to attend, and besides getting a sweet bag of swag, I also found out some great little tidbits about the series from creator Alan Ball, Anna Paquin (Sookie Stackhouse), and Stephen Moyer (Bill Compton).  Rule number one for journalists: don‘t call Anna Paquin a little thing.  One reporter asked her if she felt Alan Ball‘s treatment of her character was fair, since she was such a little thing.  It‘s easy to see how she could play a character like Sookie.  Anna Paquin defended Ball and herself in one fowl swoop: "Is it fair?  I‘m having the best time of my life!  Are you kidding me?  And I‘m not just a little thing, thank you very much." Check and mate. Warning this article contains True Blood spoilers.  Read more »
Just when Jason Stackhouse escaped the evil clutches of the Hot Shot werepanthers on True Blood, he gets himself stuck in an equally sticky situation, but at least this one has more comedy and less rape.  Read more »
It‘s on! True Blood kicked off the second half of season 4 with a big move as Marnie, the witch now completely possessed by the vampire-hating Antonia, declared war on the undead. Everyone tried their best to stop it, but the witch proved to be a more formidable foe than any in the show‘s history.  Read more »
Hah, TV people. Sometimes you‘re good friends, but other times you‘re busy arguing. Or conniving against each other. But unless you‘re a diabolical maniac or a non-human creature (or Santana Lopez), you never end up hurting each other. Not that I condone violence or anything. You know my point, right? Read more »
Somehow, ratings shoot up when guys expose their barreled chests on screen. That‘s not the reason behind today‘s quiz choice though (although if that helps, why not). It‘s simply because the timing is right for the White Collar and Covert Affairs finales. And well, we know how big of a role six-packs play in those shows.  Read more »
In an unsurprising move, HBO has renewed its hit vampire drama True Blood for a fifth season. The show, currently in the middle of season 4, will return with 12 new episodes next summer. Ratings for the current season have remained high, consistently getting over 5 million viewers every week (except for when the show aired during the Fourth of July weekend).  Read more »
Welcome to August, or as I‘d like to call it, that awkward moment between summer and fall. It‘s that time of the year when summer shows wrap up (in this week‘s case, So You Think You Can Dance and White Collar), not-so-summer shows start up (Bachelor Pad), and others just go on as usual (Big Brother and True Blood). In other words, it‘s been a busy week. But you knew I‘d say that, yes? Read more »
Each week we scour the internet for the latest and greatest photos of our favorite TV stars. From the latest photos for upcoming episodes to the hottest red carpet events to just walking down the street. It‘s clear that celebrities are working hard this summer. Pretty Little Liars star Ashley Benson is "Pretty Hot" on the September cover of Seventeen Magazine. With all her perfected Hanna style on the show I‘m sure she has great tips for back-to-school.  Read more »
I‘ll admit one thing: doing today‘s quiz is a bit awkward for me. One, I‘m more of an eyes kind of guy. Two, cropping all these lips out of photos feels a bit like Dexter Morgan killing serial killers. Read more »
The war between vampires and witches has begun on True Blood, and while the werewolves may want to stay out of it, they‘re the only ones. After last week‘s big spell to force all vampires into the sun (which only succeeded in killing one, Maxine‘s neighbor), now it‘s time for the vampires to plan their retaliation.  Read more »
Sometimes, a TV female gets to that point where she‘d rather wish for a parallel universe just to avoid The Big Decision That Will Shape The Show‘s Romantic Storyline. She meets two guys she likes and can‘t make her choice in a heartbeat, so the plot gets drawn out. Usual endings involve picking one and missing the other too much, cheating on both men, or fleeing.  Read more »
The big drama on True Blood may be the escalating war between the witches and the vampires, but Hoyt and Jessica are going through a different kind of suffering: breaking up. In the last episode the wholesome but not-that-bright Hoyt broke up with Jessica and uninvited him from his house, splitting up the longest-running romantic relationship on the show.  Read more »
To paraphrase SpongeBob SquarePants, "another week, another seven nickels!" And sure, while last week saw a bunch of finales -- and this week, too -- there was still a lot going on our televisions. Life at the Big Brother house continued while werewolves killed each other on Teen Wolf. Twelve talents got another shot on America‘s Got Talent, while Emma (or Sutton, who?) got into some new trouble on The Lying Game. You get the idea. Read more »
There‘s a lot to love about this week‘s episode of True Blood. Jason has his first voluntarily sex of the season. Sookie has a supremely crazy and sexy dream before rushing to save Bill. And, perhaps most importantly, we learn that Alcide sleeps in the nude. You can‘t go wrong with a gratuitous Joe Manganiello butt shot.  Read more »
True Blood is riding higher than ever, and Sunday‘s episode, "Let‘s Get Out of Here," is proof. The episode was watched by 5.53 million viewers, the highest rating in the history of the series. The previous high was 5.44 million viewers with the penultimate episode of season 3.It‘s good for True Blood to score big ratings now, because sadly‘ they‘re likely to take a big dip in the future. There are only three episodes left in season 4, and one airs over Labor Day weekend while the season 4 finale airs on the 10-year anniversary of 9/11.  Read more »
Denis O‘Hare is one of those actors that has his hand in everything.  I approached him at the FOX All Star Party to talk to him about a couple of my favorite roles of his, including the ruthless Russell Edgington from True Blood and liberal-minded Judge Abernathy from The Good Wife.  Funnily enough, he wasn‘t even there for either of those shows.  His new series, Ryan Murphy‘s new anti-Glee, American Horror Story, premieres this fall on FX.  I first asked O‘Hare about what was most important to me:  Any chance of him coming back to True Blood?  O‘Hare said, "I‘ll repeat to you what I‘ve heard Alan Ball say to others.  Russell is not dead.  If they wanted him dead, they would have killed him.  They mention his name so many times in season 4, I still feel like he‘s alive!"  Okay, so even if Russell is alive, would O‘Hare make the time in his already demanding schedule to come back to True Blood?  "In a heartbeat," O‘Hare quickly replied.  He loves the show, the cast, everything.   Read more »
There are only three episodes left in True Blood‘s fourth season, and the primary battle is between the witches and the vampires. But there‘s another storm brewing.HBO‘s official description for the True Blood season 4 finale, "And When I Die," promises that "the denizens of Bon Temps brace for a new crisis with a familiar face." Those simple words have caused massive fan speculation that the "familiar face" is none other than King Russell Edgington, the spine-ripping former vampire king who was given a cement grave at the end of season 3.  Read more »
The witches have been running the show on True Blood for the past few weeks, but now the vampires and Sookie are coming after Marntonia with a vengeance. At the Festival of Tolerance, Bill and Eric get into a fight, and just when the possessed Eric is ready to kill the king, Sookie decides she‘s had enough and blasts her magically fairy light all over the place, giving Eric his memories back and forcing Marntonia to run away to regroup.  Read more »

According to True Blood, Halloween is the day when the wall between the living and the dead is the thinnest, and that‘s true for the season 4 finale. Everyone knows that just about everything in the current crop of vampire-related entertainment is related to sex.
