The season 3 premiere of True Blood picked up right where the show left off with a missing Bill, Eric‘s V trade problems and Jason‘s post-shooting depression.  However, the biggest surprise of season 3 is how Pam, Eric‘s right-hand vamp, shot to the top of my Favorite Characters list.Read My Full Recap of the Season 3 Premiere>>Providing advice and muscle for Eric, Pam became more than just window dressing at Fangtasia and started to break out as a character to watch.  Her psycho-sexual mind games and formidable vampire strength make her a force to be reckoned with, and I‘m certainly a fan.  Here are just five of the reasons Pam was my favorite part of the True Blood season 3 premiere.  Read more »
If the children are our future, then we‘re screwed.  Today this year‘s Teen Choice Award nominees were announced, and as always, the list features some truly absurd nominees. On the television side, Gossip Girl leads the nominees for a TV Drama despite having a subpar season and coming in as one of the CW‘s lowest-rated shows.  Meanwhile, a great new show like The Vampire Diaries was stuck in categories for Fantasy/Sci Fi shows, which is arguably the most interesting category since it also features Fringe, True Blood, Lost and Supernatural.  Read more »

Werewolves showed up in a big way on True Blood in the past and present while new vampires arrived with big secrets.  But perhaps the best part of the second episode of True Blood‘s third season was the return of Godric, Eric‘s ancient teenage maker who died last year.  It‘s amazing how such a minor character has left such a huge impression.Read My Recap of the Season 3 Premiere>>  Read more »
In news good enough to sink your teeth into, HBO has renewed True Blood for a fourth season.  It can hardly be considered surprising since the season 3 premiere brought in over 5 million viewers, making it far and away HBO‘s top show.Unfortunately, after the current third season ends, fans will have to wait another year until season 4 comes in the summer of 2011, but that‘s a small price to pay for more True Blood. Read more »

When I was growing up, virtual reality meant giant clunky helmets and crappy, Tron-style graphics. I remember watching cartoons featuring people watching their TVs and touching the screens, manipulating what they were watching and becoming a part of the experience. The future, as they say, is now. For several years, starting heavily with the premiere of Lost, there has been a dramatic increase in interactive engagement with entertainment. Lost set up multiple websites and had complex online games to deepen fans‘ love of the show, but now, it‘s about more than just a website.  Read more »
Bill Compton‘s world is a mess. Stranded in Mississippi, he‘s spent the first three episodes of True Blood‘s third season completely apart from the rest of the cast, and in this episode he turns to the dark side in a sexual encounter that rivals his blood-soaked session atop human corpses with Lorena in flashbacks from last season.  Read more »
When this year‘s Emmy nominations are announced Thursday morning, there will likely be a lot of new comedies to cheer about, but for dramas, the revolution is over. For the past few years cable has been taking over with Dexter, Damages, Mad Men and Breaking Bad leading the charge. The story on the comedy side is new vs. old, but for dramas, it‘s all about network vs. cable. The major networks have been slipping into oblivion at the Emmys in recent years with House being one of the last hold-outs. This year The Good Wife could help out with a wave of buzz that should get Julianna Margulies a nomination and maybe even let the show sneak in for Outstanding Drama Series.  Read more »

HBO may have picked up 101 Emmy nominations, more than any other network, but the cable giant has a lot of work to do with scripted series. Only 17 of those nominations came for drama and comedies with True Blood leading the pack with just five nominations. For a comparison, The Sopranos averaged 16 nominations every season it was on.To compensate, HBO is developing a number of new dramas that are sure to up the network‘s pedigree. Here‘s the latest news on three shows to look forward to.  Read more »

There‘s trouble for Eric and Bill, both having to prove their lies to vampire royalty. And there‘s trouble for Jason, who has to be a cop.  Read more »

In the penultimate episode of True Blood season 3, there were a lot of very bad decisions made. Worst of all may go to Eric, whose master plan to kill Russell Edgington is to sacrifice himself. I know watching Godric erupt into a blue flame looked cool, but it was also the saddest moment of the series, so trying to duplicate that is a bad idea.  Read more »

Sesame Street exists on the premise that kids watch TV -- a lot of TV. The show merely takes advantage of couch potato-tendencies in order to educate and inform. It makes sense then that Sesame Street would parody just about everything already appearing on television for the education of the children.Related: Banksy‘s Simpsons Intro: 5 More Epic Couch Gags from Episodes Past Read more »

The big fake controversy of the day surrounds Glee stars Cory Monteith, Lea Michele and Dianna Agron posing for a "racy" photo shoot for the cover of GQ. Apparently "racy" means having two 24-year-old women show a little thigh and shoulder while a 28-year-old man cups their butts.  Read more »
It is the considerable opinion of BuddyTV that the people should not be allowed to vote. This morning the 2011 People‘s Choice Award nominees were announced and the choices are less than inspired. Sure, like a broken clock, some of the choices show an impressive exhibition of taste (nominating Ian Somerhalder‘s highly entertaining performance on The Vampire Diaries), but mostly, it‘s an embarrassment. Read more »

Today the NAACP announced this year‘s nominees for the Image Awards, and they feature many of the nominees you might expect.
