Articles for The Voice Season 4

NBC was hoping and praying that the return of The Voice (and, to a lesser extent, Revolution) would save its recent ratings woes, and it looks like those prayers have been answered.  Read more »
Welcome back, fans of spinning chairs, people who point at themselves and Carson Daly! It‘s The Voice season 4, and I‘m very happy to return for another year of recapping the best singing show on TV. Sorry American Idol, but if you think Lazaro Arbos is one of the eight best singers in the country, we‘ve got a problem.  Read more »
The Voice kicked off season 4 Monday night with plenty of terrific singers and a solid debut for new coaches Usher and Shakira. After two hours of Shakira‘s sweetness and Usher‘s leg kicked up on the ledge of his chair, I was left thinking "Cee Who and X-what-a?‘  Read more »
For the third blind auditions episode of The Voice season 4, we get singers named Beckham, Iglesias and Julie Roberts, none of whom are related to their famous namesakes. More importantly, Adam Levine finally makes good on his promise to steal a country artist from Blake Shelton. It‘s kind of like the end of There Will Be Blood, which I‘ll explain later. It involves a straw.  Read more »
The second Tuesday night episode of The Voice is where they throw away the trash. It‘s not that the singers are bad, but there‘s nothing and no one particularly special in the fourth installment of the season 4 blind auditions.  Read more »
It‘s the final week of the blind auditions on The Voice season 4, which means it‘s time for teams to fill up quickly. This episode is pretty much non-stop good singers as the four coaches all fill up their teams to 11 each.  Read more »
It‘s the final night of the blind auditions on The Voice season 4. Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Shakira and Usher all have 11 singers on their teams, which means that in this episode, everybody gets one. Thanks, Spidey (and Family Guy)!  Read more »
The Battle Rounds of The Voice begin tonight at 8pm on NBC, and they are always an exciting opportunity for thrilling performances and the agony of defeat.  Read more »
The blind auditions are over and now the battle rounds begin on The Voice season 4. Two singers enter (or three, in some cases), but only one leaves. Or two, if one of the coaches uses a Steal.  Read more »
NBC has found huge success with The Voice -- in fact, it‘s the only bright spot on their 2012-2013 schedule. So when a network has a hit on their hands, what do they do next? A spin-off! That‘s right, NBC is planning a kids version of The Voice and pre-production is underway. A source told the New York Post, "We are hoping [to begin production] by the end of the year." Read more »
The battle rounds of The Voice season 4 got off to an auspicious start Monday night (though not for ratings as it was the show‘s most-watched episode since the second night of battles of season 2 more than a year ago).  Read more »
The Battle Rounds of The Voice season 4 conclude this week Monday and Tuesday at 8pm on NBC. Half the battles are done, half are yet to come, and coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton each have one Steal left, while Usher has both of his available.  Read more »
It‘s the second week of battles on The Voice season 4, and things are moving quickly. With only two weeks of Battle Rounds, there isn‘t much time to waste, though the show doesn‘t seem to be aware of that fact since they add so much filler into these episodes.  Read more »
The bloody Battle Rounds of The Voice season 4 come to an end tonight as six more pairs compete, while Usher is the only coach with a Steal left. The war to claim the Red Spinning Throne is on and summer is coming.  Read more »
The Blind Auditions and Battle Rounds are over on The Voice season 4, and with 32 contestants left, the Knockout Rounds will cut that number in half. Each coach will pit two of their singers against each other, each with their own song, and then pick one winner and one loser.  Read more »

While American Idol fills its results shows with past contestants, The Voice is bringing in some major star power for its upcoming live shows. Rod Stewart, Cee Lo Green, Robin Thicke, Lady Antebellum, Pharrell Williams and T.I. will all appear on upcoming results shows on The Voice, and that‘s just for the first two weeks.  Read more »
The Voice has finished up the Blind Auditions and Battle Rounds, now it‘s on to the Knockout Rounds and Live Playoffs before ultimately getting to the real singing and voting.  Read more »
The two-night Knockout Rounds conclude on The Voice with Usher and Blake Shelton cutting their teams in half. Last night Adam Levine chose four remarkably talented women while Shakira was left with a fairly mediocre group of four (two of whom she stole from Adam).  Read more »
The Voice is going live. After weeks of Blind Auditions and Battle and Knockout Rounds, we‘re down to the Top 16 and it‘s time for America to vote.  Read more »
The Voice has finally opened voting to the public in season 4 and on Wednesday night we‘ll get our first glimpse at who the people love and who they don‘t.  Read more »
The Voice Live Playoffs for season 4 conclude tonight as the teams from Blake Shelton and Shakira take the stage. Blake promised at least two breakout moments last night, though I only counted Michelle Chamuel (maybe Amber Carrington, assuming anyone remembered her by the end of the evening). But seeing as how Blake was drinking what I can only imagine WASN‘T a Starbucks latte, his judgment may have been impaired.  Read more »
While Adam Levine and Usher‘s teams seemed easy to predict for The Voice season 4, the performances by Blake Shelton and Shakira‘s singers left everything a bit up in the air. Tuesday night‘s performances were, without a doubt, weaker than the ones from Monday.  Read more »
It‘s time for results on The Voice. While American Idol‘s results shows are 98 percent filler, The Voice has a lot to get done in an hour. Carson Daly will announce the top two vote-getters from each team and then each of the four coaches will have to decide which of the remaining two singers gets eliminated and who moves forward to the Top 12.  Read more »
NBC just announced its 2013-2014 schedule, and while premiere dates will be coming later, fans of The Voice can already mark their calendars for the next two seasons. In addition, the network scheduled its two-week reality show The Million Second Quiz as well as a live performance of The Sound of Music and the premiere of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and Late Night with Seth Meyers.  Read more »
We‘re down to the Top 12 on The Voice season 4, and now coaches don‘t matter. Two singers will go home each week, regardless of the coach, so it‘s time to see if Blake Shelton‘s all-country strategy splits votes and causes them to be in trouble or dominates and saves them all.  Read more »
The Voice has reached the point where it‘s time for two singers to go home each week, regardless of who their coach is. It‘s always a little difficult to figure out how viewers will vote in the beginning, but I‘ll do my best.  Read more »
It‘s time for results. The Voice is down to the Top 12, and tonight the bottom two singers, regardless of their coach, will go home. I‘m predicting Vedo and Garrett Gardner, but I wouldn‘t be shocked to see Kris Thomas or Holly Tucker go either.  Read more »
NBC is the first network to officially announce its schedule for the 2013-2014 TV season, and it involves a lot of changes. Revolution is moving to Wednesdays, Chicago Fire is moving to Tuesdays and Parenthood is moving to Thursdays.  Read more »
All six coaches on The Voice will be back next year. No, they‘re not adding two more spinning chairs to the set over the summer, but according to EW, deals have been made to bring back Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera, Usher and Shakira.  Read more »
May sweeps have come to a close, yet The Big Bang Theory, NCIS, and Modern Family stood their ground throughout. We expect this to change dramatically, though, due to the imminent season turnover of the three shows.  Read more »
The Voice offered up a very unsurprising results show last week as the two singers I (and many others) predicted to go home did. Vedo and Garrett Gardner are gone, leaving Shakira and Usher each down one team member. Will the two new coaches continue to get decimated, leaving us with an all-Adam Levine and Blake Shelton Top 6? It seems possible.  Read more »
The first week of results shows on The Voice season 4 were fairly easy to predict, with Vedo and Garrett Gardner going home. For the second week, however, things are slightly more difficult. Between performances, order, iTunes, and previous songs, there‘s a lot of information to process.  Read more »
One week ago on The Voice, a guy from Team Shakira and a guy from Team Usher went home. Will history repeat itself?  Read more »
It doesn‘t matter whether they‘re on television or in movies -- teenagers love vampires. Though it shouldn‘t come as a surprise, it‘s now made official. In the first set of surfboard nominations for the Teen Choice Awards, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 leads the field with seven, and The Vampire Diaries is not far behind with five. Read more »
The Voice coach Blake Shelton, a native of Oklahoma, has quickly put together a benefit concert for victims of the recent devastating tornadoes in the Sooner State. Healing in the Heartland: Relief Benefit Concert will air Wednesday, May 29 at 9pm on NBC, E!, Style, Bravo, G4 and CMT.  Read more »
Happy Memorial Day! It might be a holiday, but The Voice is still live with the Top 8 performing. Without having to compete against Dancing with the Stars, hopefully this show will get a few more viewers in the final weeks. And if you‘re new, I hope you like the ladies, because there are seven strong female singers and only two men, The Swon Brothers.  Read more »
Now that the weaker singers have been eliminated from The Voice, things get a little bit trickier. Two more singers will go home Tuesday night, but who will they be? Will Shakira or Usher be eliminated from the competition since they only have one singer apiece? Will Blake Shelton or Adam Levine lose their first performer?  Read more »
Despite inferior ratings from those of last year, the season finales of Modern Family and Criminal Minds topped the top most-engaged TV shows last week. They were followed closely by The Voice and the soon-to-finale Law & Order: SVU, along with two of NBC‘s new series. Read more »
Another Tuesday, another results show on The Voice. Two more singers will go home and there are plenty of mysteries. Will Shakira or Usher be knocked out of the competition as their final singer goes home? Will Adam Levine or Blake Shelton finally lose a member of their teams? Does any of this matter since we all know Danielle Bradbery is going to win?  Read more »
