On this week‘s episode of The Mentalist, the team is called out to a little island to solve the murder of a girl with a troubled past. Grab your butterfly nets and a cup of tea for some highly observational fun.Lonely IslandLisbon and Jane are checking out the body of a dead female on an island when they run into William Gardner, butterfly enthusiast. They find out that the land is owned by another man, Jeb Stack (no relation to Joe Stack, noted IRS hater) who owns the land that the body was found on. It looks like we already have our first few suspects. It turns out that the body belongs to a young woman named Talia Suarez who grew up in and out of foster homes. Jane and Lisbon try to find townspeople to talk to, but the place is deserted because everyone is at a town meeting. Who goes to town meetings anymore? I guess the locals are stuck in a time capsule of 1948.  Read more »
On this week‘s episode of The Mentalist, a dead police chief sends the CBI team looking for someone who took Ice T‘s "Cop Killa" too literally. Along the way there is a Lisbon family reunion.Family TiesWe open up the episode with the dead body of a cop. Marti Green was more than your ordinary cop though; she was the Chief of Police. Rigsby and Lisbon interview Officer Price at the scene for more information, but Jane would rather use his superior intellect for clues. He finds out that Green couldn‘t have been the one driving her squad car (do Chiefs of police drive squad cars?) because the seat was adjusted for someone larger. Not only that, but there is blood in the trunk, which means that she was dumped on the scene.  Read more »
On this week‘s episode of The Mentalist, Jane and the CBI team have to find a serial killer who may be right under their noses. Speaking of serial killers, whatever happened to Red John? I‘m sure we won‘t have to worry about that guy again.Another Serial Killer The episode opens with the dead body of a young girl found in a park. It looks like someone slit her throat and put rocks on her eyes. My first suspect would be a homeless guy who watched Boondock Saints too many times but didn‘t have any coins to spare. It turns out that this is the fifth victim of the San Joaquin Killer, who has to have the most boring serial killer name ever. I bet he‘d be made fun of at all the serial killer conventions by BTK (Bind, Torture, Kill), the Zodiac Killer and the Unabomber. Anyways, The find a list of old suspects and Jane tells her to do the most court admissible way of find out who the killer is by making an uneducated guess at who she thinks it is. The unlucky chosen one is Richard Haibach. Read more »
On this week‘s episode of The Mentalist, the CBI team is called in to investigate the murder of an undercover narcotics agent. It‘s a case that is so tantalizing that Agent Hank Schroeder is called in from Albuquerque to help solve.Lady in Red The episode starts in club Luxure. Yes, the club is as Euro trashy as the name makes it sound. We find that a young lady is having a great time and letting it all hang out so to speak. She gets a text message and leaves the club in the hurry. When she gets to the car, she is greeted with two shots to the head. I‘m sure it‘s just a concerned citizen who doesn‘t want people to text and drive at the same time. It turns out that the young lady was named Yolanda, and that she was an undercover cop. They learn this from Det. Anderson, played by the great Dean Norris. She was at the club tracking down a suspect named Omar who is a supposed drug kingpin. Read more »
On this week‘s episode of The Mentalist, the CBI crew is back from a short break to solve a crime dealing with a mistaken death. I guess fake Peyton Manning even has his enemies. Welcome back to television, Jane!Just What the Doc OrderedWe open this episode at Doc‘s. Doc‘s is one of those celebrity sports bars that is owned by a sad former athlete who is still trying to hold on to his fame and glory. After telling a group of guys about his glory days, telling a group of sad wanna-bes about what it is like to do something spectacular with their lives. Doc leaves only to find himself blown to bits by a car bomb. The CBI team, minus Rigsby, shows up to the crime scene to find out more. Cho is told about Doc, but being a nerd, he has never heard of him. According to doc‘s stats, he is like Peyton Manning. Good career numbers, but only one championship. Let‘s hope Peyton‘s neck heals and he starts playing again, because it would be a shame to find him shilling a crappy sports bar in a year or two. Read more »

On this week‘s episode of The Mentalist, the CBI takes control of a murder trial already in process to prove the innocence of a defendant. After 23 episodes, and what seems like 19 months, the fourth season of The Mentalist comes to a close.
