Articles for The Amazing Race Season 18

Eleven Amazing Race favorites re-convene in Palm Springs, California"to settle some Unfinished Business." Phil looks like he‘s lost weight, doesn‘t he? Enough about Phil, cowboys Jet and Cord are back! So are Margie and Luke, Amanda and Kris, Flight Time and Big Easy (the Harlem Globetrotters), Mel and Mike, Kent and Vyxsin, Gary and Mallory, Kisha and Jen, Ron and Christina, Jamie and Cara, and Zev and Justin. Zev and Justin promise us they remembered their passports this time.Guess what else is back! The Express Pass! Phil explains this just before he drops the bomb that their first challenge starts before they even get their first clue. Oh yes, this season will be all kinds of different! The teams will have to search through a field of paper airplanes for a clue and a spot on one of two flights. The last team to complete this challenge will get a U-Turn. Phil tells the teams to look for Queensland And Northern Territories Aerial Services. QANTAS, which seems really obvious to us at home because we got to see the clue.  Read more »
Last week, The Amazing Race left us with a cliffhanger, and I‘m sure you‘ve all been on the edge of your seats to find out what happens. What? You forgot about it? You‘re watching The Oscars? Well, to catch you up, Gary and Mallory won the Express Pass but Phil told them (and the rest of the teams) that they are STILL racing, and Jet and Cord are stuck at the Road Block decoding some flags.Jet and Cord are missing the password, while the other ten teams have already checked in and received the clue sending them back to Sydney. The teams will get on two flights to the small town of Broken Hill. Amanda and Kris will be dealing with the season‘s first U-Turn, but they‘re in second so it shouldn‘t be too much of a problem.  Read more »
Kris and Amanda were eliminated after a grueling double-leg in Australia on The Amazing Race. We‘ll miss them, and their dynamic as one of the few couples in this season. Find out what they have to say about racing again, getting married, and those kangaroo suits! How did the experience of racing a second time, with all returning teams, compare to your first time on The Amazing Race?Kris: It was incredible yet a completely different experience this time around. This was everyone‘s second shot so we were all there to put up a fight to win. Also, many of the teams were our past castmates so it was really cool to experience this all over again with some people you consider friends. Read more »
Last week, Amanda and Kris were eliminated in Australia, leaving them with even further unfinished business. You may have missed it because of The Oscars, which were not nearly as interesting as people jumping around the outback in giant kangaroo suits. Tonight the teams are going to Tokyo, Japan! Zev and Justin are first to go to depart, but most of the teams have memories of previous challenges in Japan. Business gets finished TODAY. Mel is feeling better by the hour. Is anyone else finding themselves falling in love with Kent and Vyxsin? I was expecting not to like them but they‘re entertaining. I also (still) love Zev and Justin, who have elected to call themselves "the special kid and his friend."  Read more »
It‘s always sad to see a team eliminated on The Amazing Race, but it was particularly sad to see Mel and Mike go. They were very sweet to each other while running the race, and eventually had to give up because it was too cold wading through the mud in Japan. Here‘s what Mel, the 70-year old father of the father-son duo, had to say about his Amazing Race experience. It seems like a lot of the teams are helping each other out and working together this season, why is that?I don‘t know. You have more empathy with others team when you all understand how difficult the race is. The first time you are really competitive and the second time you are still competitive but you understand the pressure that you are under. I don‘t know what it would have been like at the end but in the beginning people are much more willing to help each other out because you understand the positions the other teams are in. Read more »
Today CBS announced that its hit reality show Survivor was renewed for two more seasons, meaning it will return for its 23rd season in the fall and season 24 next spring. The show that started the network reality boom has done it all. Survivor has had all-star seasons as well as years where it divided the camps based on race, gender and age. But how can Survivor stay fresh for two more seasons?  Read more »
Last week, Mel and Mike were eliminated in Tokyo. This week, teams will travel to Jade Dragon Mountain (that‘s a real place!) in China. Ze and Justin leave first, followed by Gary and Mallory and Ron and Christina. Ron and Christina speak Chinese, and have already been to Lijiang, China. Kent and Vyxsin want to have a PMA (Positive Mental Attitude) but have trouble finding, then unlocking their car. Their PMA is destroyed before they even reach the airport. Jaime and Cara do not remember China fondly, and Margie and Luke remember their troubles with Kisha and Jen. All the teams show up at Narita Airport, except for Kent and Vyxsin. Vyxsin has basically lost her mind. It‘s trouble in Italy all over again. But according to Kent, The Amazing Race is also about miracles.  Read more »
Last week, The Amazing Race left us in suspense as Kent and Vyxsin were having the worst leg of the Race ever, and the other teams had checked in but were told they‘re still racing! They left their fanny pack (which is EVERYTHING) in the gondola! Everyone else is going back to Kunming, where a Double U-Turn awaits them. Luckily for Kent and Vyxsin, the earliest train back to Kunming is at 7:00 pm so it will tie everyone up. In a touching moment, Phil checks the goths in, and tells them about their 30-minute penalty for missing the required flight. Haven‘t they been through enough, Phil?! Regardless, they‘re still in it, and will wait their penalty out at the next pit stop, and they have elected not to tell anyone about their penalty.  Read more »
After a grueling double leg in China involving completion of a large dinosaur skeleton, Jaime and Cara were eliminated from The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business. We caught up with them and found out more about their experience the second time around and what they‘re up to now. What was it like going into the Race a second time against other returning teams?Jaime: It was exciting and an honor to be invited back for such an amazing adventure!Cara: It was really exciting! I was really surprised there were so many from our season, but it was cool to have an opportunity to run against teams that I have watched and admired in their seasons.  Read more »
Reality television can be good or it can be bad. More often than not, it falls under the category: so bad it‘s good. Either way, BuddyTV is a big fan which is why we‘re excited to announce a brand new contest! Thanks to Reality Rocks, we‘re giving one lucky reader the chance to win the new SlideHD Flip Cam. To learn more about the upcoming Reality Rocks Expo, the SlideHD Flip Cam and how to enter on BuddyTV, keep on reading.   Read more »
As a TV critic, I‘m used to getting cool things in the mail from networks trying to promote their shows. To date, the best gift has been soap on a rope, courtesy of Prison Break, but that was replaced when a giant box full of Snapple‘s new Amazing Race iced tea arrived at the offices of BuddyTV.  Read more »
Last time on The Amazing Race, Margie and Luke suffered a pretty devastating defeat. Luke drank about a hundred gallons of tea before receiving their product placement clue, and couldn‘t make up the time from there. This week, they‘re still in India, and if anything, The Amazing Race always reaffirms that I don‘t think I would enjoy visiting India. Ron doesn‘t enjoy India, but Ron doesn‘t enjoy anything.Gary and Mallory got to try the new Amazing Race Snapple flavors first for their win in the last leg, and they get to depart for the Tonga Stand in Varanasi first. Which is better? Kent and Vyxsin were eliminated the last time they were in India, so they‘re hoping to make it farther this time. I love when the teams tell the people at the airport or travel agency that they‘re in a race, as though racing around the world is a totally normal thing that anyone would understand. The teams are all getting on flights that will get them in Varanasi at 10:45 a.m. except Jet and Cord, who get on a flight that arrives at 11:45. Aww!  Read more »
Ron and Christina had a great second go in The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business. Their relationship seemed to have improved, even just a little bit, and Ron got to eat a lot of snacks in different countries. Their team came up short in Varanasi, India, and BuddyTV got the scoop on racing again, who they want to win, and of course, the food. What was it like returning to The Amazing Race with other teams who had competed before? Did you change your strategy going in this time around? Read more »
Flight Time and Big Easy finished first last time, so they‘re first to get on a flight to Vienna, Austria. They like Austria because it‘s where the Terminator is from. The Globetrotters, Zev and Justin, Kisha and Jen, and Gary and Mallory get on a flight that arrives earlier, but has to make two connections. The efficient cowboys have learned that flights are sometimes delayed, so they take a chance on the one connection that gets in half an hour later. They‘re the only ones taking that gamble!Kent and Vyxsin are cracking me up again, with their squabbling and threatening to step on each others‘ faces. The teams arrive in Vienna and get into their new 2012 Ford Focuses that have a video message from Phil to use the My Ford Touch system. It‘s a whole big thing, but the winners of this leg each get a Ford Focus! The secret message tells them "Schloss Schallaburg." It‘s a castle. Read more »
I‘m so glad Gary and Mallory weren‘t eliminated last week! This week, they‘ll have to complete a Speed Bump, which I don‘t remember having seen for a while. Zev and Justin are first to depart the Villa Trapp, having won cars in the last leg. The teams will catch a train to Liechtenstein, where another Double U-Turn awaits somewhere within this leg. Flight Time and Big Easy have become flirty friends with Kisha and Jen, who I still don‘t feel like we know much about. I think I just realized last week that they‘re sisters. The cowboys are first to get out of the train, headed toward the boarder crossing at Schaanwald. Gary and Mallory lose time as their cab driver (always with the cab drivers!) checks his GPS. Read more »
We were all surprised and upset to see Jet and Cord, the Amazing Race Cowboys, eliminated this week after the teams shared information with each other and conspired to shut the cowboys out. As we may have expected, Jet is just as nice as can be. We asked him about his experience on The Amazing Race and his feelings on how that final leg turned out.Your team was definitely a fan favorite, and people were pretty upset that you were eliminated because all the other teams shared information. How do you feel about the way that final leg was played? Do you think it was fair for the other teams to conspire against you? Read more »

The teams are in Switzerland, and taking helicopters! Zev and Justin are feeling first and fortunate. Kisha and Jen, departing second, are having more fun this time around. And they‘re going to have extra fun with that whole dollar for the leg of the race. Kent and Vyxsin put on extra glitter for this leg of the race (to match the snow), and are convinced they‘re getting along better. Kent and Vyxsin have trouble getting a cab, and Gary and Mallory don‘t. This pisses Kent off to the point of well, more complaining. The Globetrotters catch up and everyone waits for their helicopters, departing five minutes apart. They have a lot of safety gear on, which worries some of the teams, while other team members are worried about the helicopter ride. Has there been a major heights Road Block yet?  Read more »
Kent and Vyxsin had one of the most dramatic and amusing returns to The Amazing Race we‘ve ever seen. When they weren‘t bickering (usually about forgetting something), they were making us laugh with their commentary, or fighting with the Globetrotters. I had the opportunity to ask "The Goths" some questions and find out more about the Globetrotters, what happened in Varanasi, and how they feel about their race. You won‘t want to miss this one.Congratulations on making it so far! You two were so much fun to watch. You experienced a number of setbacks this season. What was the most frustrating moment for you? Read more »
Only four teams remain on The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business. I can‘t believe it! Zev and Justin, Kisha and Jen, Gary and Mallory, and Flight Time and Big Easy have made it to the final four. Will this finale end in a lot of traffic like finales past? I feel like they‘re always stuck in traffic.PART ONEAfter a Travelocity product placement ("Where should we go on our trip, Big Easy?" "This looks amazing!"), the teams get a clue sending them to Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. This is the leg that both the Globetrotters and Kisha and Jen were eliminated from in their original seasons. Zev and Justin just need to remember their passports, and Gary and Mallory can‘t get lost for nine hours. The Globetrotters and Zev and Justin find a flight that gets in at 7:30am, and Kisha and Jen and Gary and Mallory are on a flight that puts them in Rio at 5:40 pm. That‘s a huge difference! Luckily, everyone makes it onto that early flight, so no one will have a huge advantage.  Read more »
Last year CBS shook up its schedule by moving two of its strongest performers, The Big Bang Theory and Survivor, and now the network is doing it again.CBS has revealed its fall 2011 schedule, and the biggest changes come with moves for two of the networks biggest dramas, CSI and The Good Wife. After years of anchoring Thursday nights, the original CSI is moving to Wednesdays at 10pm, where it will no doubt try to kill Law and Order: SVU once and for all.  Read more »
