Oprah‘s Big Give is an upcoming ABC reality series (set to premiere on March 2 at 9pm) that will see ten contestants giving away hundreds of thousands of dollars across the country to strangers in creative ways.  Oprah‘s Big Give is being brought to us by   Today, ABC announced who will be judging these acts of charity (it is a reality elimination series, after all) – The Naked Chef Jamie Oliver, NFL Tight End Tony Gonzalez and Malaak Compton-Rock, wife of comic Chris Rock.  Each of the judges are known for their charitable efforts and have therefore been deemed the perfect judges for Oprah.  Ms. Winfrey herself will not appear in all episodes, but will make an appearance here and there.  Read more »
Tonight, the much awaited reality series from ABC and Harpo productions will launch for the first time following months of hype and publicity over the program‘s unique premise.  Oprah‘s Big Give, created and produced by multiple-Emmy Award winning host of The Oprah Winfrey Show, Oprah Winfrey, will attempt to inspire viewers as it hands over a million dollars to local ABC affiliates and challenges them to give big and give back to their communities.  Acts of generosity begin tonight at 9pm ET/PT.For those who are not familiar, Oprah‘s Big Give is a competitive reality series consisting of eight one-hour episodes aimed to change the lives of complete strangers in the most creative and dramatic ways.  The series features host Nate Berkus and expert judges including world-renowned chef and philanthropist Jamie Oliver, NFL star and Boys & Girls Club Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez, and charity founder and wife of Chris Rock, Malaak Compton-Rock. Read more »
On the series premiere of Oprah‘s Big Give, Oprah Winfrey handed 10 contestants sealed envelopes with only a picture and the name of a complete stranger.  The contestants were ordered to transform the person‘s life in just five days by using their creativity and resources to generate the most powerful difference.  Winfrey revealed to the viewers that unknown to the contestants, "The Biggest Giver" will walk away with $1 million and at the end of the episode, Marlene was sent home.  This season opener attracted more than 15 million viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research.The competition continues this week on Oprah‘s Big Give.  Read on for a preview. Read more »
Last week on Oprah‘s Big Give, nine contestants were dropped in the middle of Denver for the “Fast and Furious” challenge.  Oprah Winfrey gave them a 48-hour challenge that requires them to give away bundles of cash in the most creative and dramatic ways.  In the middle of the challenge, they‘re given a big, surprise twist. ‘Tis the season to watch people win expensive things! I just watched Oprah‘s Favorite Things (part 1! We‘ll get to that) and it was delightful. We all love a good, hour-long commercial for stuff we could never afford! Here were the best parts:1. Oprah psyches the audience out by talking about meditation, then is like "just kidding, nobody cares about that!" (not a direct quote) and TEARS AWAY HER DRESS to reveal a sparkly red dress and announces it is the Favorite Things episode. The audience is wrecked. Read more »
