Does anybody like January Jones these days? The actress, who came to fame as Betty Draper on Mad Men, has gotten her fair share of bad press in the past several months. Once Upon a Time is ABC‘s upcoming fantasy series about the dual realities/identities of the sad souls who live in Storybrooke, Maine (in our dimension), but who really live inside the land of fairy tales. Or maybe the town is the fairytale land in disguise? I‘m not really sure. (I‘ve seen the pilot. And I‘m still not really sure.) So I‘m also not really sure why these new promo shots of Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) and the Evil Queen (Lana Parilla) feature the characters posing in massive birds‘ nests. Is it because Snow White is trapped and delicate and helpless, like a baby bird whose wings don‘t work? Or maybe we‘ll learn later that this is where the Evil Queen‘s army of flesh-eating crow-slaves lives? Probably, the show‘s creatives just thought the nest would be a dark and foreboding, yet dreamy and romantic setting in which to reintroduce us to their fresh takes on these iconic characters. Which it is.But it‘s also an image that I, and many of you, have seen before, putting a slight damper on the dreaminess/romanticism of it all... Read more »

Our two week wait is over! Once Upon a Time returns with more fairytale mash-ups and enchanted character cameos than any supernatural enthusiast can dare to dream of. Tonight‘s episode follows Sheriff Emma Swan as she investigates Kathryn‘s disappearance. As payback, Madame Mayor now has Mary Margaret in custody for the murder of David‘s wife, Kathryn. Yet in the last moments of the episode, Kathryn is found in an alley ... very much alive.Tonight‘s episode will spend most of its fairytale focus on Rumpelstiltskin and his son Baelfire while Mr. Gold and August, formerly known as The Stranger, take the forefront in Storybrooke. Let us not forget, though, that Sheriff Swan has a lot of work on her hands: trying to prove Regina‘s involvement in Kathryn‘s disappearance. I think it‘s safe to say that David and his apologies can take a backseat; his wishy-washy behavior helped get Mary Margaret into this mess!  Read more »
