Articles for Nurse Jackie Season 3

Nothing ever really happens on Nurse Jackie. The show‘s second season ended with drug-addicted Jackie‘s husband and best friend staging an intervention, offering hope that the show might actually move the story forward. Season 3 (premiering Monday, March 28 at 10pm on Showtime) destroys that hope and puts everything back to where it was before.Jackie‘s entire life is built on lies, whether it‘s about her drug use, her affair with Eddie or the fact that her co-workers don‘t even know she‘s married. When the show dares to try and expose one of these lies, another one just pops up in its place.  Read more »
Showtime is breaking up its pair of Emmy-winning ladies. Today the network canceled Toni Collette‘s United States of Tara, but renewed Edie Falco‘s Nurse Jackie for a fourth season. Both Collette and Falco have earned Emmys for their work on the Showtime comedies. The shows are currently in their third seasons and air Mondays at 10pm. We love our doctors on TV. Recently we created a list of our favorite ER Doctors in other roles because while they‘re great in their new roles, they will forever be in our hearts as County General‘s finest. I should also mention that tonight is also the season finale of Nurse Jackie, and this season has been a rocky road to recovery (if you want to call it that). Read more »
In 2005 Desperate Housewives was the hot new show on TV and it earned 15 Emmy nominations for its first season, but despite a ton of buzz, it failed to win the award for Outstanding Comedy Series. The following year, amid much criticism that the show was too dramatic and serious, it was surprisingly dropped from the Comedy Series race and only picked up seven nominations.I mention this story at the start of my predictions for this year‘s Emmy nominations for Comedy because it seems eerily similar to Glee. The show had a ton of buzz for its first year, didn‘t win for Outstanding Comedy Series, and now, with criticism about its overly dramatic second season, there‘s a chance it too could be left out in the cold.  Read more »
The 2011 Emmy nominations were announced today, and as expected, last year‘s big winners, Mad Men and Modern Family, are the most nominated drama and comedy with 19 and 17 nominations, respectively. However, the nominees this year include a number of very pleasant surprises and big totals for HBO‘s freshman dramas Boardwalk Empire (18 nominations) and Game of Thrones (13 nominations).  Read more »
The people have spoken, and this year‘s nominees for the People‘s Choice Awards are an interesting mix of popular programs and CW favorites.  Read more »
And they‘re actually pretty good.Like everybody who spends way too much time watching or thinking about television, I am continuously irritated by most major TV awards. When the same, arguably-inferior shows get nominated year after year, irritation is hard to avoid. But sometimes an award listing gets it right. This year‘s nominations for the Critics Choice Television Awards get it very right. Read more »
This year‘s Screen Actors Guild Award nominations are a very mixed bag for television. The comedy side is full of stale, aging shows like 30 Rock and The Office while completely ignoring fresh, newer faces like New Girl or Parks and Recreation. For dramas, however, there were some big surprises, none more shocking than the nomination for Patrick J. Adams from USA‘s Suits.  Read more »
For those religious Nurse Jackie viewers who were fearful of Jackie‘s (Edie Falco) pill-popping and husband-cheating ways bubbling to the surface and ruining her life, you are most likely thanking God for last season. On season 3 of Nurse Jackie, the secrets were almost out and Jackie had just about given up trying to hide them. New Video promo of Nurse Jackie season 4>>Take our Nurse Jackie Trivia Challenge >>Her husband Kevin (Dominic Fumusa) was attempting confrontation and HR was breathing down her neck about a urine sample. Somebody was watching Jackie‘s back, however, as the season finale revealed that Kevin wasn‘t trying to confront her; he too had an affair. And in a glimmer of hope, Jackie‘s boss Gloria Akalitus (Anna Deavere Smith), somewhat aware of Jackie‘s problem, tossed her urine sample in the trash.  Read more »
