Articles for Keeping Up with the Kardashians Season 1

Kim and Kourtney Kardashian, stars of the new reality series Keeping Up with the Kardashians that premiered on October 14 on E!, is facing a controversy regarding some sexually explicit nude pictures that were offered for sale to media outlets.  According to sources, the photos of Kim, who is now 27, and Kourtney, 28, were reportedly taken 11 years ago when they were still underage.  Some of the pictures featured Kim naked while Kourtney was seen in sexual poses with a naked man. Nude photographs of underage Kardashian sisters were offered for sale to media outlets earlier this month by San Fernando Valley photographer Eric Ford.  But a representative from the Kardashians released a statement saying, “Any publication that would print these pictures, which are considered child pornography, will be subject to the same criminal investigation as the agency who is attempting to sell them.” Read more »
Family-centered shows are not uncommon in today‘s airwaves, with reality series like VH1‘s Hogan Knows Best, a show featuring professional wrestler and entrepreneur Hulk Hogan and his family, and Gene Simmons Family Jewels, a show featuring KISS member Gene Simmons and his clan, drawing in high numbers for their respective networks. Recently, E! launched their own family-centered reality series, Keeping Up with the Kardashians.  For 26-year-old socialite Kim Kardashian and her family, having their own reality series gives them the opportunity to expand their public image. "What sets us apart is that even though we grew up with privilege, we all work," she told the New York Post.  "I am so stereotyped into being this Hollywood girl...  I‘m excited for people to see how normal we are." Read more »

Hollywood socialite Kim Kardashian has been quite vocal about what she hopes viewers will take from her new reality series, Keeping Up with the Kardashians.  She has claimed that she wants the public to see how “normal” she and her wealthy family really are, and that she is far from the “party girl” stereotype, saying she doesn‘t “even drink alcohol.” Moreover, becoming the cover girl for Playboy‘s December issue apparently does not indicate that she is a wild child, as she told Us Weekly that “it‘s not a nude photo-shoot by any stretch.” Read more »
And the operative word in that title is “girls.”When you are a writer who focuses on reality TV, it can sometimes take a lot to move you to actual surprise at what people might be willing to lay out for the public on camera. Jonny Fairplay lying about his grandmother‘s death on Survivor? Hugh Hefner happily cohabitating with his multiple girlfriends on The Girls Next Door? New York from I Love New York…um…doing much of anything? At some point, you do become a bit inured to the idea that anything at all is really scandalous enough to make me sit up and take notice.Thank goodness, then, for Keeping up with the Kardashians, for showing me, and many other jaded viewers, that there is actually something that might seem beyond the pale to us. Read more »

This is the semi-true story of one fat bottomed girl with no discernible skills so desperate to become famous that she and her entire family will parade around on a weekly reality show.  On that show, the girl, famous solely for starring in a sex tape, will attempt to shed that image by associating herself with Girls Gone Wild and Playboy.  Welcome to Keeping Up with the Kardashians, also known as the eighth circle of Hell.  The ninth circle is reserved for the people who greenlit this show. This episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians begins with Kris, Kim Kardashian‘s mother and manager, receiving a phone call asking for Kim to pose for the celebrity December issue of Playboy.  Kris is absolutely in love with the idea, because Manager comes before Mother in the dictionary. Read more »
Kim Kardashian, star of E!‘s new reality series Keeping Up with the Kardashians, is not one to shy away from the camera, but the 27-year-old Hollywood socialite says she will never videotape herself having sex again, not only because she has two very impressionable younger sisters, but also because she saw how deeply it affected her family. “My step-dad [Olympic medalist and Keeping Up with the Kardashians co-star Bruce Jenner] wouldn‘t talk to me for three weeks,” Kardashian told Playboy.  “The stress that I know it put on my mom and my step-dad -- just the whole family.  If my dad were here to witness all of that, I don‘t even know what I‘d do.  It‘s just not worth it, basically.” Read more »

Kim Kardashian, the star of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, graces the cover of December‘s Playboy Magazine.  Posing for Playboy is at once a prestigious and stigma-filled event, but for Kardashian, it certainly equals a step up.  The socialite daughter of the late Robert Kardashian (a high profile lawyer), Kim is famous mostly for her famous friends and unfortunate sex tape with Ray-J (Brandy‘s brother).  In December‘s Playboy, Kardashian poses nude in a classy 50‘s pin-up style pictorial, a photo shoot that was featured on a previous episode of E!‘s Keeping Up with the Kardashians.  Read more »
It‘s time for another installment of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, so turn off your sense of shame. It‘s been four years since Robert Kardashian has died, so the family gathers at his favorite Armenian restaurant to remember him.  Aw, this should be a sweet episode with absolutely no insane, immoral antics, right?  Khloe Kardashian is hit the hardest, and we get shots of her looking sad intercut with old sepia-toned home movies.  Later Khloe is at her boutique having a traditional celebrity meltdown, minus the celebrity.  She‘s throwing clothes, cursing, and in need of a Xanax.  Upon leaving, she gives my new favorite exit line: "Bye, bitches."This episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians comes with a warning: it includes recreations of actual events.  Based on what happens, I assume that covers nearly every single scene. Read more »
