Many things are in store when ER, the longest American primetime medical drama, returns for another heart-pounding season tonight at 10/9c.  Kicking off the premiere is the episode entitled “The War Comes Home,” which is directed by Stephen Cragg, whose credits include Desperate Housewives, Boston Legal and Third Watch. Season 14 opens with a challenging first day for Chief of Emergency Medicine Dr. Kevin Moretti (Stanley Tucci), as the emergency room is swamped with casualties, including Dr. Neela Rasgotra (Parminder Nagra), as a result of a disastrous peace rally. Another celebrity has come on board with the adoption wagon and he comes in the form of ER‘s John Stamos.  Nowadays, the 44-year-old actor, who plays Dr. Tony Gates on the medical drama, has been contemplating on becoming a dad.  Though he currently doesn‘t have partner to share the joys of fatherhood, he remains eager to have kids in the near future. "If I don‘t have kids soon, I am going to adopt," the ER actor told OK! magazine in its latest issue.  "Even if I do have kids, I think I will [adopt.] I always thought to myself that I would be a better father later on in life." Read more »
George Clooney has experienced some real-life hospital drama when he and friend Sarah Larson were admitted to the Palisades Medical Center in New Jersey last month after suffering some injuries from a motorcycle crash. According to reports, 27 of the hospital‘s 1,200 employees, excluding doctors, has been suspended without pay for one month for allegedly prying at the former ER star‘s confidential medical records.Hospital officials believe that employees did not leak Clooney‘s information to the public but accessed his records improperly.  Eurice Rojas, the hospital‘s vice president of external affairs, says that the workers have violated the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which notes that only direct caregivers, including the doctors and nurses as well as technicians and support staff involved in the patient‘s care, can look at a patient‘s records. Read more »
Gloria Reuben will soon be reprising her role as Jeannie Boulet on the long-running medical drama series, ER.  According to TV Guide, the Canadian actress has signed on to appear on the episode of the show scheduled on January 10, 2007. Reuben, who played a physician‘s assistant in the hospital infected with HIV, first appeared on ER as a guest star in 1995 and was elevated to full time cast member at the beginning of season 2.  She continued her role until early season 6, when she officially left the show.  After her stint on ER, she concentrated on working on movies, including, Salem Witch Trials, Happy Here and Now, Little John, and Bad Faith, just to name a few. Read more »

Viewers may be seeing more of NBC‘s ER next year. Executive producer John Wells told reporters at the show‘s 300th episode bash that he is reopening talks with the network about the possibility of a 15th season. This is contradictory to speculations made earlier this year, when the word was that the show‘s current season would be its last. Read more »
In order to give financial assistance to their striking writing staff, the stars of NBC‘s long-running medical drama, ER, are planning to host a series of fundraising events.  Show actor John Stamos, who has already spent time on the picket lines with the writers, said that he and his costars were impressed when the show‘s scribes worked extra hard to make sure they had three full episodes to film before the strike began, and now, they want to give something back as a token of their appreciation. "I support the writers and we‘re all in this together... We‘ve got together with the cast and if [the strike] goes on, I think we‘re gonna work on raising some money for our people first that may lose their houses or their cars,” Stamos said. Read more »
Working on a series like ER can be quite a chore, considering the actors have to continuously immerse themselves in the medical world to ensure their portrayals are accurate.  However, after four years of working on the series, Linda Cardellini claims she has grown to love even the difficulties of the job. "When I first got here, it was easily the most difficult acting job I‘d ever had," Cardellini told the New York Daily News.  "It‘s very technical, with the medical stuff, learning the choreography of the trauma scenes and all the behaviors you need.  Now I love it." Read more »
Goran Visnjic, star of NBC‘s long-running medical drama, ER, has admitted that he is the father of a baby girl born to a Croatian woman named Mirela Rupic, with whom Visnjic had an affair in 2006. The 35-year-old actor did not travel to Zagreb for a DNA test scheduled for Friday.  Instead, he sent a document confirming he was the father of eight-month-old Lana Lourdes. Read more »

Early next year, ER is featuring one of its alumni as a guest star in an episode entitled “Status Quo.” Gloria Reuben, whom viewers last saw in Chicago‘s County General Hospital seven years ago, will be returning for one episode as Jeanie Boulet, a physician assistant who contracted HIV from her estranged husband.  Contrary to what was previously reported, Reuben‘s episode is scheduled to air on Thursday, January 3, and not the following week. Many fear the unknown, but actress Linda Cardellini, who plays Nurse Taggert on NBC‘s long-running medical drama ER, certainly isn‘t one of them.  This bodes well for the 32-year-old star, considering the unpredictable and unstable nature of the industry wherein she works. ABC really wants to torpedo the premiere of The Apprentice: Celebrity Edition.  Following NBC‘s announcement that they were moving back The Celebrity Apprentice‘s premiere one week (from January 3 to January 10) to avoid college football and the final pre-strike episode of Grey‘s Anatomy, ABC announced today that they were moving back the final pre-strike episode of Grey‘s Anatomy to December 10 as well.  Both shows are set to air at 9pm.  Both of these announcements are accompanied by major shuffling of air dates for ABC and NBC shows.  Here‘s a look at where the final pre-strike episodes of some of ABC and NBC series will now fall.  Read more »
Last Thursday, ER‘s first new episode for the year aired, and it featured the special one-time guest appearance of actress Gloria Reuben as Jeanie Boulet.  Several years have passed since Reuben last played the HIV-stricken physician‘s assistant, but the actress had no trouble easing back into the role. “It just felt incredible… It really felt kind of great to step back into the shoes of Jeanie,” Reuben, who is an AIDS activist in real life, told the Los Angeles Times.  "Of course, there was a lot of apprehension and anxiety, like returning home after not having been there for so many years.  I didn‘t know what to expect.  But when I got there, it was like no time had gone by at all." Read more »

The last pre-strike episode of ER aired last week, but word is still out whether the show is returning for another year, considering many had believed this season – the 14th for the show – would be its last.  However, show star Parminder Nagra doesn‘t think the writers would let the long-running (not to mention Emmy Award-winning) series end without a proper conclusion. "I don‘t think you can have a series that‘s been on for 14 years and have it end like that," Nagra, who plays Neela Rasgotra on ER, said. Read more »
NBC has just decided to pick up the Emmy Award-winning medical drama ER for a 15th and final season.  This news comes as a pleasant surprise to fans considering that that many were led to believe that the current season, which is the 14th for the show, would be its last. "ER is one of the greatest shows of all time and we can‘t wait to deliver to the audience the fantastic stories the series is known for," NBC co-chairman Ben Silverman said in a statement.  "We will introduce new characters to the great ensemble." Read more »
ER has added yet another A-list actress to its ranks.  The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actress Angela Bassett is joining the cast of the NBC medical drama for its 15th and final season. Bassett will reportedly portray “a tough attending with a troubled past who‘s coming back to Chicago after a few years in Indonesia doing tsunami relief.  Her arrival in the second episode next season promises to shake County General‘s ER to the core.” Read more »
ER, television‘s longest-running medical drama, which has earned more Primetime Emmy Award nominations than any other program in history, has just been added to ION Television‘s primetime lineup in June.  But fans won‘t just be enjoying a few weekly episodes of the medical drama as the network kicks off with a marathon of back-to-back episodes featuring guest stars who have either won or been nominated for Emmy Awards.The marathon starts with three episodes at 8pm to 11pm on June 9, 10 and 11, followed by two episodes from 8pm to 10pm on June 12.  ER will then air in its regular timeslot Monday through Wednesday at 10pm beginning June 16. Read more »
We recently reported on how much the Hollywood couple George Clooney and Sarah Larson liked cuddling up on a warm sofa and tuning into the crazy reality show, Rock of Love.   Along with the end of the second season of the dating game, it seems that 47-year-old actor and 29-year-old former Las Vegas cocktail waitress decided to call it quits.  An insider reportedly said that Larson had moved out of Clooney‘s home in Los Angeles shortly after the break-up."George is relieved to be single again," an insider told In Touch Weekly.  "He thinks Sarah is sweet and that is why it was so hard to break up with her." Read more »
