Articles for Dancing with the Stars Season 10

If you would have told me last season that Donny Osmond would eventually go home with the mirror ball trophy on Dancing with the Stars, I would have slapped you and called you crazy. Just the same, it goes to show how crazy unpredictable things get on Dancing with the Stars. It‘s not all about skill. Personality (or lack thereof) actually plays a huge role. So if American Idol has its WTF eliminations, fans can expect that DWTS is also chock full of surprises ... even if you don‘t recognize half the people competing.Don‘t forget to sign up for ‘DWTS‘ Fantasy TV!Dancing with the Stars season 10 festivities kick off tonight with a two-hour premiere. Who‘s going to wow us ala Mya? Who‘s going to surprise us ala Kelly Osbourne? And who‘s going to make us monumentally shake our heads in shame ala Michael Irvin? It‘s the Dancing with the Stars Season 10 premiere, and I‘ll be here all evening documenting and commentating as this season‘s 11 stars take the floor with their professional partners, Brooke Burke makes her DWTS hosting debut and the judges hand out praise and criticism for the very first dances of the season.Remember, there‘s no elimination this week. Tonight‘s performances are all about getting a feel for our cast this season, and the stars getting feedback so they can knock our socks off even harder next week. Let‘s get to it! This is... the Dancing with the Stars Season 10 premiere! Liiiiiiiive! Read more »
Comments were mostly negative on Brooke Burke‘s co-hosting debut on the Dancing with the Stars premiere. She may have won season 7 of the show, but if DWTS viewers could vote off a co-host, Burke might just be out of here faster than you can say "Viennese Waltz."See the Scores: Dancing with the Star Premiere: The Best, The Worst and Pamela AndersonBesides awkwardly hunched over posture, Brooke appeared more than a little nervous or uncomfortable her first night out of the co-hosting gate. She spoke with little spontaneity or fun throughout the show. Even her laughs sounded rehearsed. With so much going on around her, I didn‘t see it at first. But after watching Brooke again, she seemed disconnected from the couples she was interviewing. Everything was just mechanical and flat and stiff.Samantha Harris isn‘t looking so bad right now, eh? Read more »

These days, it looks like there are but a few remaining supporters of Jon and Kate Plus 8 star Kate Gosselin. Her stint on Dancing with the Stars further damaged her reputation, but there‘s still one person who believes she has a shot with it. Surprisingly enough, that person is Kelly Osbourne.Check Out Our Recap of the Dancing with the Stars Premiere! The 25-year-old celebrity defended Kate Gosselin on an interview with Us Magazine and said that this woman needs no more enemies. Career-oriented women like Kate Gosselin have little time to party. As her 35th birthday rolled by, the Jon and Kate Plus 8 star didn‘t plan on any big celebrations. Instead, she flew to Los Angeles and spent the occasion practicing for Dancing with the Stars.Check Out Kate‘s Performance on the Dancing with the Stars PremiereWhat‘s more surprising is that the reality TV mom was thousands of miles away from her children on her special day - Sunday. Here‘s what to catch this week on TV. Monday, March 29Dancing with the Stars (ABC, 8pm): Eleven couples take the floor again for the second week of dancing, but somebody is going to be sent packing on Tuesday.  Read more »
Tonight, it really starts.Last week the 11 stars and their pro partners took the floor with their first dances, Viennese waltzes and cha-chas, to show off their new ballroom skills. And, for the most part, these couples proved that three weeks of hard work and mega-hype can turn into one hell of a show. The premiere was full of great fun, great dancing and the great big assets of Pamela Anderson. What‘s not to love?Get an Inside Look: Aiden Turner Blogs DWTS for BuddyTV!But tonight, as I said, the competition really starts. After only a week to learn either a foxtrot or a jive, and with elimination looming over their exhausted heads, tonight the stars need to step it up to win those much-needed points from the judges, and those essential votes from us.Will Kate Gosselin jive with the judges--or will she be a jive turkey? And will Pamela Anderson be able to control her foxiness long enough to dance a foxtrot? We‘re about to find out in this Week 2 Performance Show of Dancing with the Stars season 10... Though we‘re pretty much used to seeing Kate Gosselin being on Dancing with the Stars, the reality TV celebrity remains appalled at how she landed the gig. But she‘s even more surprised at how rehearsals keep interfering with her daily life.Kate Gosselin Even Spent Birthday Dancing!"[I] can‘t say I‘ve ever felt the need to point my toes while waiting in line at the grocery store or while stirring my pot of pasta at the stove," the Jon and Kate Plus 8 matriarch wrote on her TLC blog. If scores were the only indication of a couple‘s relative safety on Dancing with the Stars, Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough would be sitting atop Mt. Olympus right now, bragging to Zeus himself about their unprecedented double tens during last night‘s performance show. But we all know that scores only go so far around here. Just like high school and politics, popularity is the name of the game, and in this game, being too perfect is just as much a danger as being as far from perfect as is humanly possible (a.k.a. Kate Gosselin‘s jive last night). In other words: I have no idea which of the season 10 stars will pack up his or her patent shoes and go home tonight, but we‘re about to find out. After close to an hour of filler-tainment, of course. Read more »

It‘s April Fools‘ Day, but we‘re not fooling: E! Online got the news from Kate Gosselin herself that, in response to judge Len Goodman‘s challenge for the Dancing with the Stars couples to "tell a story" in next week‘s routine, she and partner Tony Dovolani will enact a true story: the story of her life!See where Tony and Kate landed in this week‘s DWTS Performance Rankings"It‘s my story over the past two years," Kate said of the routine. "We‘re very, very excited." How would Kate describe the choreography for this spin-off of her tabloid tale? There‘s really only one word that does it justice:"Dramatic," said Kate. To which Tony added, "Lots of drama." To which Kate tacked on for good measure, "Oh my gosh, so much drama."Does that mean Tony Dovolani will be putting on a bright polo shirt and cargo shorts to play Jon Gosselin in their pasodoble next week?  Read more »
Next Monday, the remaining ten Dancing with the Stars couples will take the floor with waltz, paso doble and quickstep routines that will each tell a story. One of which (guess who!) will tell a story we know all too well.Wanna know how the other stars are faring with their new routines? Plus: why is Brooke Burke spreading her own false pregnancy rumor? And are Erin Andrews and Maksim Chmerkovskiy dating? It‘s all here, and then some, in this week‘s Dancing with the Stars news roundup: Read more »
This coming Monday on Dancing with the Stars, each couple‘s dance must tell a story--contain not just choreography, but storyography as well. And the news that Kate Gosselin and Tony Dovolani will dance a Paso Doble that will, at least in a vaguely referential sense, reenact the last two years of Kate‘s life (which can be easily summed up with the tabloid headline "Jon & Kate Plus Hate‘) got me thinking.First thought:(A) Hahahaha! Oh man, I can‘t wait. That is going to be insane. But, more importantly, second thought:(B) What would the rest of the dances look like if they were somehow based on the stars‘ lives? It‘s unlikely that any of the other ten stars and their professional partners will choose to mine the depths of their personal lives as dance inspiration--and for good reason, given how inherently egomaniacal and dangerous such a storytelling venture would be ... but what if? Here are some ideas. Read more »
Jon and Kate Plus 8 star Kate Gosselin isn‘t the only one scared of her stint on Dancing with the Stars, since she worries about her kids seeing it too. Despite problems that might set back less dedicated dancers, the show must go on for Dancing with the Stars front-runners Evan Lysacek and Erin Andrews.Late last week, Evan revealed on Twitter that he has two broken toes, making him the first star this season to succumb to the dreaded Dancing with the Stars injury "curse." This morning on his blog on, Evan assured his fans that the injury won‘t affect his efforts during tonight‘s Dancing performance show: "I will tape them up and hit the floor with the same 100 percent effort I give in training. I will not let them steal my thunder! A little pain won‘t keep me off the ice, nor will it keep me off the dance floor." Read more »

British hunk and All My Children alum Aiden Turner has teamed up with BuddyTV to bring you the inside scoop as he competes for the coveted mirror ball trophy on Dancing with the Stars. Here‘s what‘s on Aiden‘s mind as he prepares for his second live performance tonight!Hi everybody,A while ago, ABC approached me to do Dancing with the Stars, and I knew from my friend and co-star Cameron Mathison that it was an amazing opportunity, so I decided to go for it. I saw him go through it, so I knew it wasn‘t going to be easy, but I was very excited. I‘ve never danced like this before and as an actor, I‘m not really accustomed to performing in front of a live audience. So it‘s safe to say that this whole experience is really new to me.  Read more »

The Bachelor--and its darn roses--just won‘t leave Jake Pavelka alone. Concerned that the controversial decision might cost him votes next week on Dancing with the Stars, he insists to TV Guide that he did what felt right for him. We were pretty much right on the money when we predictedthat Evan Lysacek and Nicole Scherzinger would run away with the best performances of the night on Dancing with the Stars. Two things, though: we definitely see thelittle Evan Lysacek disconnect the judges were talking about, and arewe seeing a revival of the old Len versus Mya episode with Nicole (notenough content, too much content, that sort of thing)? Don‘t forget to catch: ‘Dancing with the Stars‘ Season 10 Premiere: New Stars, New Host, New Season! And since she doesn‘t fit into the best or worst categories, let‘s talk about Pamela Anderson. Like Carrie Ann Inaba, I was also eagerly anticipating how she‘d perform on Dancing with the Stars.Tom Bergeron said it best: "I feel like I‘m 12." There was somethingelectrifying in her performance, of the wardrobe malfunction-variety,that perhaps prompted ABC to give her the so-called pimp spot. And while some may be thrown off with the jiggly bits and the infectious tossing of the hair, there‘s no denying the girl can move.Judging from the scores alone, only she and Erin Andrews are capable of giving Nicole and Evan some competition. Raising a family of eight kids and recently undergoing a divorce feels like nothing compared to a stint on Dancing with the Stars, according to Kate Gosselin.  The Jon and Kate Plus 8 matriarch talked about her debut on the competition and she‘s admitted to how pressured she feels about it. Tonight on Dancing with the Stars, it‘s all about stories. Some were told with overflowing emotion (Niecy Nash and Louis van Amstel) while others were paltry attempts at a story (she‘s blindfolded, he leads the way. That‘s a story?).‘Dancing with the Stars‘ Live Recap: Tell Us a StoryJudging from last week‘s elimination, America couldn‘t care less if a contestant is compared to a shopping cart being pushed around (Kate Gosselin) or if it looked like he forgot to take off his moon boots (Buzz Aldrin). In other words, skills can only go so far on Dancing with the Stars, and lack of skills can surprisingly take you, well, far. Confusing. The week 3 leader board is after the jump: Read more »
It‘s Week 3 of Dancing with the Stars season 10. Let‘s refresh: last week, in a not-so-surprising move, America chose scandal over potential, and so we said goodbye to Shannen Doherty rather than Kate Gosselin--whom we can all agree was the worst dancer, can we not? The worst dancer who isn‘t 80 years old, anyway.See where Kate, Pam and the other stars landed in our DWTS Week 2 Performance Rankings But despite her wimpy jive last week, the scoring slate has been wiped clean, and Kate‘s back to try again as the 10 remaining stars take on the paso doble, waltz and quickstep. Each dance must tell a story. Whether the story they tell is happy or sad, it‘s up to the stars to make sure their dancing will be classified as fantasy, not tragedy. Will these storytellers do their tales, and their dances, justice? Or will their characters, and their moves, fall flat against the music? It‘s time to find out, because I‘m recapping this Dancing with the Stars Week 3 Performance Show ... "Liiiiive!"  Read more »

It‘s that time once again, dance fiends and ballroom queens: elimination day.Last night, the top ten Dancing with the Stars couples told us stories with their routines, and now it‘s up to the judges‘ scores and our votes to decide whose story won‘t have a happy ending.Want a synopsis of the stars‘ toe-tapping tales? Revisit last night‘s episode recap, and check out my picks for best and worst in the Week 3 Performance Rankings. Who do you, the BuddyTV DWTS fans, think will go home tonight? Judging from our poll on the subject today, 67% of you hope Kate Gosselin will get the boot for her "super bitch"-y paso doble, with 27% rooting for Buzz to waltz away from the stage. Well, it‘s a common refrain, but I‘m with you: Kate may give herself props for trying her hardest these past three week, but--what‘s that expression? Oh yes: "Three strikes and you‘re out!" I hope. But of course, anything can happen on a Dancing with the Stars results show! And tonight we‘ll be treated to more than just results, as Reba McEntire will grace us with her country crooning, and Mark Ballas will return with an "acoustic paso doble," whatever that is. Read more »
There was no question about it. Buzz Aldrin, no matter how much of a sweet American hero he is, would have exited Dancing with the Stars sooner or later. There‘s simply no way he can competitively match the likes of Nicole Scherzinger and Evan Lysacek. When good ol‘ Buzz got the boot tonight, bittersweet as it was, DWTS fans have one more question: what about Kate Gosselin?Recall how both Buzz and Kate performed last night. Is Kate a worse dancer than Buzz? That‘s a tough call. On one hand, Kate has absolutely no rhythm or musicality or finesse. She looks permanently petrified, if not irate. Her movements are awkward and her posture is clumsy. Her attitude, moreover, borders on rude. On the other hand, Buzz is, well, 80, and is a sweet all-around guy. Read more »

The "superbitch from hell" rumors just won‘t stop for Dancing with the Stars contestant Kate Gosselin. Funnily enough, it sounds like a dance move. When Kate Gosselin ends her controversial stint on Dancing with the Stars (an ending most of our readers seem to hope will come sooner rather than later) she‘ll have another reality TV challenge to try: Twist of Kate, a new TLC program that will send Kate across America to meet her fans and walk a mile in their shoes.See Kate‘s latest Dancing flop in our Week 3 Performance RankingsIn Twist of Kate, Gosselin will respond to fan letters from women inspired by her family trials on Jon & Kate Plus 8 by visiting the women at home and profiling their challenges. The Katred (Kate Gosselin hatred) has been flowing pretty thick in our atmosphere since Dancing with the Stars season 10 began, and reached season highs this past Tuesday, when American hero Buzz Aldrin got the boot instead of Kate. It‘s unknown when the storm will eventually pass, as the DWTS forecast continues to call for more Kate--as long as the ratings and mysterious votes keep rolling in, anyway.Which is why it would benefit us all to look on the bright side and put our Katred in perspective by asking the question: Who would be a worse dance partner than Kate Gosselin? Of course, no one needs such a ray of sunshine more than poor Tony Dovolani. This list is for him. It‘s turning out to be a rather quick season on Dancing with the Stars as there are only nine couples left in the field. Last week: the couples danced the waltz, the quickstep and the paso doble. Evan Lysacek took over the leader board with his quickstep, Kate Gosselin‘s paso doble made us not to want to hear Lady Gaga‘s "Paparazzi" ever again, and we said goodbye to Buzz Aldrin.Dance Partners Worse Than Kate GosselinThis week on Dancing with the Stars, the couples will receive two sets of scores: one for technical elements and another for artistic flavor. The nine remaining couples will take on either the tango or the rumba. Pamela Anderson and the rumba? Get the kids to bed!Check out what the other couples will be dancing after the jump. Read more »
It would have been a tough week for Erin Andrews without all the headlines. After all, she‘s still in the running for that Dancing with the Stars mirror ball trophy, which means long rehearsals and grueling physical training, plus a live performance for 24 million viewers. But the ESPN sports reporter has more stressful, even hurtful, obstacles to cope with this week: the FBI won‘t arrest the man who has been emailing Andrews death threats because of his free speech rights, while one disapproving writer at the Toronto Star tore Andrews apart for her choice to appear on the show, calling her a "ballroom bimbo"--and worse. People magazine came out this week with a definitive report about Andrews‘ and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy‘s "hot romance": a story Andrews says is definitively untrue. (Her explanation in one word? "Sarcasm.")Sports Illustrated spoke to Erin about the threats, her critics and the tabloid fodder, plus her future at ESPN, where her contract is up this year. With a new reality series under her belt and continuing support from (some) fans on Dancing with the Stars, Kate Gosselin appears to be going strong still. It was an all-around dreary night on Dancing with the Stars. Most couples just failed to wow the stern judges, who are all too willing to dispense those 5‘s and 6‘s. Even perennial crowd-pleasers Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough‘s rumba fell flat.‘Dancing with the Stars‘ Recap: It Takes Two Scores to Tango There were a few surprises, though, including improvements--and we use the term loosely here--from the "less talented" of the contestants. But before we go to Kate Gosselin, let‘s take a look at the leader board. Remember, the judges gave two scores for the couples‘ rumbas and tangos, one for technique and another for performance: Read more »
Tonight on Dancing with the Stars: the nine couples take on the sexy, steamy, oh-so-dreamy dances of looooove, tango and rumba. And style always counts, but tonight it‘s literal: each couple will get separate scores for footwork and flair. It‘s the "DOUBLE SCORE SHOWDOWN"!Wondering who‘s dancing what? We‘ll tell you! While we wait for the real action to start, allow me to point you to your DWTS required reading for the week: Maksim Chmerkovskiy‘s blog over at TV Guide is extra long, extra juicy and extra angry (justifiably, I‘d say) about one journalist‘s claim that Erin Andrews is acting like a "bimbo" by going on this "fluff" TV show we all adore. Go get ‘em, Maks! And you should go read his thoughts. Reason #3,490,123 to love Maks: He doesn‘t hold back. (Reason #1: Look at him!)So, my questions of the evening to get the comments ball a-rollin‘:- Will Evan Lysacek and Anna Trebunskaya hold on to the top of the leader board?- How will Kate Gosselin perform--or should I say cope?--with the tango?- Will Pam‘s rumba be too scandalous for primetime? Kate Gosselin is proving to be one tough cookie to crack. After her "mini breakthrough" last night where she "actually danced," the Jon and Kate Plus 8 star lives to see another day on Dancing with the Stars, as she escapes elimination again. Last night on Dancing with the Stars: The judges handed out double scores, but did so doubly harshly. Kate Gosselin had a "mini breakthrough" with her tango according to judge Bruno Tonioli, but still landed at the bottom of the leader board (or the top of the worster board, if you‘re a "glass half full" sort of person), while Evan Lysacek put another feather in his perfection cap, tango-ing (and "tan going") his way to the top for the second week in a row.Tonight: The band Sade will perform two songs, New York City‘s principal ballerina and the violin duo "Nuttin But Stringz" (who either have a sense of humor about themselves or are actually squirrels) will visit the Dancing stage, and Mark Ballas will once again play the Ghost of Pro Partners Past, this time as the choreographer for a group of Ballroom Kid Champions.Oh yeah ... and someone‘s GOING HOME! According to our two polls on the matter, about 80% of you think that person should be Kate Gosselin, but does America agree with you? Will the new unofficial title of this show become "The Top Eight Minus Kate"? That, my ballroom babies, we shall see. In an hour. Until then, this is the live recap of the Dancing with the Stars results show, where anything (inoffensively entertaining) can happen!  Read more »

The couples grooved to the dances of love last week on Dancing with the Stars, but they weren‘t feeling any love from the judges. The tangos and rumbas left the judges disappointed and those 5‘s and 6‘s came flying. But first, find out which judge called Kate Gosselin crap and weigh in on our Ultimate ‘Dancing with the Stars‘ Pro Partner Showdown. This week on Dancing with the Stars, it‘s a mix of six dances for the eight remaining couples: they do the jive, quickstep, cha cha cha, tango, foxtrot and rumba to "iconic" songs from famous movies, including Pulp Fiction, Breakfast Club, La Bamba and Risky Business. It‘s going to be a 90-minute show tonight so expect things to be packed.Find out what the couples are dancing after the jump! Read more »
It‘s movie night on Dancing with the Stars, so I thought it fitting to pick a movie title as my headline, and one that reflects what we‘re about to see in tonight‘s performance show: the eight remaining stars, many of whom are quite long-legged (and love to show it off, ahem, Erin Andrews), are about to get freaky out on the dance floor with an assortment of jives, quicksteps, cha-chas, tangos, foxtrots and rumbas, all inspired by iconic films. Can‘t wait? Find out who‘s dancing what tonight! So before I get nasty comments: no, I am not calling any of your beloved stars "freaks," and none of them have eight legs ... although, coincidentally, Kate Gosselin has eight kids and about as many lives (when it comes to DWTS eliminations). And I think that Chad Ochocinco and Pamela Anderson have both proven that getting freaky is one of their specialties. Wink, wink.Dancing Discussion: Weigh in Now!As we all watch the movie-inspired dances and cast our votes, make your voice heard: which Dancing star has the most staying power this week, and who should be packing their bags?  Read more »

Last night on Dancing with the Stars: The elite eight and their pro partners put forth a variety of dances inspired by iconic films, but only a few routines managed to live up to their lofty visions. Read the Recap: DWTS Movie Night: Eight Legged FreaksKate Gosselin blamed her kids for her too-tired-to-bother "Breakfast Club" foxtrot, while Chad Ochocinco took a step back with a quickstep that barely managed the "Bare Necessities." On the other end of the quality spectrum, Evan Lysacek evaded "Armageddon" with an inspired rumba, and Nicole Scherzinger was a "Pretty Woman" with a near-perfect tango.Tonight: The sun will set on one star and his/her pro partner, as America‘s votes and the judges‘ scores will combine once more to form the axe that will cut the fat for next week‘s Top 7 show. Who do YOU think will go home? Your picks for tonight‘s safe and shaky couples combined to make our Power Rankings list, and our prediction of who will be eliminated tonight: Read more »
When America chose to send Kate Gosselin packing tonight on Dancing with the Stars, a collective sigh of relief rang out among ballroom enthusiasts everywhere. She may be a lot of things, but a dancing queen is not one of them.Your comments about the elimination prove that the majority of you are satisfied with America‘s decision. Okay, more than satisfied. "Ding, Dong, the Witch is Dead," exclaimed user Doc mere minutes after the axe came down. "SHE‘S GONE!!! Buh-bye, go home, get off my TV," said kabelladonna, while (I imagine) doing a little jig of joy. And the most common refrain I‘ve seen so far tonight? "Now the competition can really begin."There‘s no question whether, based on dance ability alone, Kate Gosselin deserved to get the boot tonight. Heck, based on a bunch of other things, too, like attitude, energy, charisma, ability to convincingly smile on cue ... she got what was coming her way. Which is why I have an entirely different question for you, lovers and haters alike: Did Kate add or subtract to your Dancing with the Stars experience this season? Read more »
For the second time in four total Dancing with the Stars eliminations so far, buxom bombshell Pamela Anderson and her sexy Aussie dancemate Damian Whitewood ended up in the bottom two last night. After finding out they were up against the seemingly immortal Kate Gosselin, Pam ‘n‘ Dam were then subjected to the red light of death as they awaited their fate--and then, at the final moment, thankfully, were saved. And I have just one question for you, the Dancing with the Stars voting public: what GIVES, America? Read more »
Movie night on Dancing with the Stars left a lot of fans satisfied, mainly because Jake Pavelka went pants-less for a few seconds and Nicole Scherzinger showed everyone who‘s the real one to beat on the show. Oh, and because Kate Gosselin got the boot. But before we go to the news bit about Maksim Chmerkovskiy dissing Jake Pavelka, weigh in on why America is not showing Pamela Anderson the love she so deserves and check out Kate Gosselin‘s not exactly popular journey on Dancing with the Stars. Read more »

March Madness may be over, but April Insanity has officially begun. Well into season 10 of America‘s most popular show, the Dancing with the Stars pro partners are now celebrities in their own right. BuddyTV decided to stir up even more competition between these stars, and their devoted fans, by pitting these ballroom pros against each other to see who comes out on top as America‘s Favorite Dancing with the Stars Pro Partner. Just like an NCAA bracket, each week we‘ll pit two stars against each other, and let you battle it out in the polls to decide who will advance to the next round. It‘s down to seven couples tonight on Dancing with the Stars, and with Kate Gosselin out of the running, the competition can really kick off. This week, the seven celebs will dance either the samba or the Argentine tango, in addition to a swing dance marathon. And in something that promises to be very entertaining, the celebs will also design the costumes for his/her team‘s number.‘Dancing with the Stars‘ News Roundup: Chad Gets a Pedicure, Kate Gets GrilledWho‘s dancing what this week? Tonight on Dancing with the Stars: Half the couples will tackle the Argentine Tango, while the others attempt the sexy Samba. To add another twist to this batch of steamy routines, the seven stars took the reigns on costume design for themselves and their pros. (So, besides technique and performance, we‘re also on fashion watch tonight, with a full report on the best and worst glittery get-ups coming your way tomorrow. I know: I can barely wait, either!)And, for the first time in Season 10, a challenge: The top seven couples will participate in a Swing Dance Marathon. (All couples begin the dance at the same time, and the judges eliminate them one by one. The final couple on the floor receives the most number of points.)The stakes are high, and the scores have been relatively low for the majority of the remaining stars, much to Maksim Chmerkovskiy‘s disappointment and confusion--as well as our own. Which brings us to our pre-show discussion question of the night:Have the judges‘ scores been fair and/or consistent this season?Remember, as a couple users pointed out last week, vivacious crowd-pleasers like Niecy Nash and Chad Ochocinco have been slumming it with 6‘s and 7‘s, while dead on the dancefloor Kate Gosselin slid through a couple weeks with straight 5‘s. Do you smell fish, or is this just a case of subjectivity? Something to ponder in the comments below as we await tonight‘s performances.  Read more »
It‘s really a competition now on post-Kate Gosselin Dancing with the Stars. The seven couples took on the energetic samba and the passionate Argentine tango (not to mention a good old swing marathon).According to your votes, it‘s Jake Pavelka who should be packing his bags to finally spend some quality time with Vienna ... and the leaderboard agrees. So we ask YOU:Is Jake Pavelka the worst dancer left in the competition at this point? Read more »
Last week, Maksim Chmerkovskiy made an off-hand comment about Jake Pavelka‘s pants-off dance routine, saying it was a "desperate" ploy during a post-show interview. Then he took to his TV Guide blog to dispel rumors of his sour grapes, saying the comment was just a joke: "C‘mon! Lighten up people!"Now, in another post-performance chat with US Weekly, Maks lashed out at head Dancing with the Stars judge Len Goodman, who said after his shirtless samba: "I‘m fed up, Maks, with shirts coming off! [Erin Andrews] is too good for that!" Len scored the routine a 7, while the other judges gave 9s.Maks managed to hold his tongue in the moment, but had plenty to say to Len after the show: Read more »
The scores (harsh, for some, as they may have been) are in, and so are the votes. Tonight, another couple will see their Mirrorball Trophy dreams go up in smoke. Who‘s going home? Well, it‘s clear who you, the BuddyTV buddies, think will be shown the door. According to your votes last night and this morning, 43% think Jake is the worst dancer, with Niecy close behind at 31%. And you have faith that America will vote for talent, not over-enthusiasm or jiggly parts, because 46% of you think Jake will get the boot, with Niecy again close behind with 23%.If you‘re just joining us today, allow me to point you to what you may have missed since last night‘s samba and swing exhibition: Maks called Len "too old" (and "one billion percent wrong"), I thought Erin‘s purple feather duster was delightful (but some of you disagree, which is fine, although you are wrong), and, for the first time this season, someone who isn‘t Nicole or Evan hit #1 in my Performance Rankings (where, again, some of you disagree, but that‘s what‘s great about America/anonymous comment threads: we‘re all entitled to our opinions, wrong as they may be). In fact, if these disagreements teach us anything, it‘s that Dancing with the Stars is one heck of a subjective show, with something (and someone) for everyone, and there‘s just no telling who will get the high points and the big votes! Which makes these Results Shows so exciting. And nerve-wracking. Even more exciting about tonight‘s show? Melissa Etheridge is here to sing "Come to My Window," and world-class Flamenco/Spanish guitarist Benise will play "Salsa Salsa." One song I know all too well, and one song I know not at all. See? Something for everyone!   Read more »

I‘m back, ballroom babies! Many thanks to my BuddyTV buddy John for covering for me last week while I rubbed illustrious actor elbows with Colin Hanks and Bradley Whitford on the Good Guys set. (But really, shirtlessness.)Tonight: The top five couples each take on TWO different dances, one Ballroom and one Latin, the latter of which will feature a song and style taken from an era in time. We found out who‘s dancing what thanks to their tweets, though some stars are staying mum on which eras they‘ll be repping tonight. But not Louis van Amstel, who just couldn‘t contain himself from tweeting that he and Niecy will dance a 90s Paso Doble to "Rhythm is a Dancer." Uhhhhhh ... ! It‘s dance-or-die time for the Dancing with the Stars Season 10 final four. And given that each couple will perform two brand new dances in two all-new styles after just one week to prepare, the pressure couldn‘t be higher for Chad Ochocinco, Erin Andrews, Evan Lysacek and Nicole Scherzinger. Well, maybe not for Nicole--or do I mean especially for Nicole? It‘s lonely at the top, with all us underlings standing there just waiting for her to trip up. By all accounts, most viewers are predicting that Chad‘s waltz and samba tonight will turn him from Ochocinco to Ocho-stink-o. Will he get out there and prove us wrong? Will he be partying in the U.S.A. with Miley tomorrow night, or weeping along to Sarah McLachlan‘s tragic melodies? It all depends on tonight‘s performances, and who wins your votes. Tonight: I‘m here to give you the play by play and my unique perspective on all eight performances. It‘s almost finale time! Last night on Dancing with the Stars, our four Season 10 finalists gave it their all by each performing the one Latin and one ballroom dance style they‘d yet to tackle this season. And, for the most part, it was a night of complete domination. They obliterated those dances--in a good way. They MURDERED those routines and then raised them from the grave and made angels out of those dances. R.I.P. Dance Angels, but you have gone to a better place--and that is my eyeballs. It was a sight to freaking see. And after this dance-blogger saw it, she had no clue which of the four finalists she would like to see NOT go to the final three. Sure, her readers were pretty dead-set on seeing Chad Ochocinco turn into Chad Ocho-sink-o. But Chad‘s got cajones, and an 8-pack and most importantly (apparently, though I‘m stuck on the 8-pack) a growing repertoire of technical skills with an ever-present charisma. She isn‘t sure the middling Erin Andrews could pull off a victory next week, so why not just say goodbye to her now? But the promise of an all-or-nothing routine choreographed by the all-but-naked Maksim Chmerkovskiy is too delicious to pass up. And then there are Nicole Scherzinger and Evan Lysacek: the early front-runners turned semi-finalists, soon to become the Lee vs. Crystal dancing equivalent, and perhaps fated to inspire the same amount of viewer-boredom when their all-too-predictable rivalry comes to a head. Wouldn‘t things be more interesting if we took one of them out of the mix now and boosted up our underdogs? Or would that be a sacrilege Dancing with the Stars (and us voters) might never live down?Just some things to ponder as we patiently await tonight‘s elimination results, and impatiently watch Miley Cyrus writhe around in a bird cage while we do it. It‘s the home stretch on this season of Dancing with the Stars, and while not a lot of fans are surprised by the final three couples, it‘s still an exciting finale to watch: Psychic Meghan predicts it‘s a Nicole-Evan showdown with the Olympian eventually winning. Next Monday, the three Dancing with the Stars season 10 finalists -- Nicole Scherzinger, Erin Andrews and Evan Lysacek -- will take the stage for the final time before the judges and America crown the Mirrorball Trophy winner. It‘s essentially been a Nicole vs. Evan showdown since the beginning, but Erin was right up there behind them in Week 1, and since then she‘s managed to grow technically, artistically and -- perhaps most importantly -- her apparent fan base. It seems a long shot that she could beat either of the top dogs in next week‘s finale, but it‘s not impossible. This is it, Dancing fans! Tonight, our three season 10 finalists -- Evan Lysacek, Nicole Scherzinger and Erin Andrews -- will perform their final routines to earn your votes. Each couple will perform two routines tonight: an original "redemption dance" in a style selected by the judges, and a dance in the always-entertaining "freestyle" category. For their redemption dances, the judges have selected the samba for Erin and Maks, the Viennese waltz for Evan and Anna, and the rumba for Nicole and Derek. Notably, the judges didn‘t select the samba for Evan, the dance that dropped him to the bottom of the leader board for the first and only time. Instead, he‘ll dance the style he earned 8‘s with in Week 1. Nicole‘s "worst" still earned her 8‘s and 9‘s in Week 3, and Erin‘s samba was so spectacular in Week 6 that she hit #1 in my performance rankings and made Carrie Ann scream, "You nailed it!" It‘s been less than a week since Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger took home her mirrorball trophy, but rumors are already swirling about potential celebs who could grace the ballroom floor when Dancing with the Stars returns for season 11. Among the high-profile rumors: Betty White. Jon Gosselin. Nancy Pelosi. Rachel Uchitel. Sarah Ferguson. David Hasselhoff. Even Jake Pavelka‘s fiancee Vienna Girardi wants in on the dance-action.Could any of these rumors turn up true--and, more importantly, do you want them to be true?Personally, after gleefully watching the crazy antics of Niecy Nash and double entendres of Pamela Anderson this season, I‘ve got a pretty odd wish list mulling around in my head, complete with daydreams of even more extreme costumes, big attitudes and out-there routines to spice up season 11. My list‘s not final yet (which is why I‘m acting for your help!), but the names Johnny Weir, RuPaul and Chuck Norris may or may not be (read: definitely are) on it. And, not to make it too much of an afterthought, but I think they‘d be killer dancers, too. Well, maybe not Chuck. (Chuck Norris does not dance. He roundhouse kicks to the beat.)Who‘s on your Dancing with the Stars Season 11 wish list?  Read more »
