Articles for Castle Season 5

Castle is a fun show. Yes, it has mystery and romance and tragedy, but Castle is, at its heart, a whole lot of fun. And if you remember that, you will not be at all surprised to learn that the Castle season 5 premiere, "After the Storm," is one of the most excellent, romantic, intriguing and -- of course -- fun TV episodes you will see this fall. Read more »
ABC is premiering pretty much all of its new and returning shows this week. With that in mind, the network has produced a series of videos highlighting the programs coming on each night. They start, naturally, with Monday, September 24 and the season premieres of Castle and Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars. Read more »
Mark my words here: Castle is on fire. And I mean that creatively, of course, although there was some actual fire in tonight‘s episode. (Also explosions! Also nudity! Also, Alexis was drunk and I wanted to have flashbacks of her doing a drunken version of the Gangnam Style dance. But I realize this show isn‘t written entirely for me so...)Last year, Castle reached the point of diminishing returns on the show‘s central conceit: a will-they-won‘t-they crime fighting duo. It wasn‘t the first we‘ve seen on television and, knowing network TV‘s love of procedurals, it certainly won‘t be the last. But last season, Castle did something shocking in the television universe: it committed to the central couple. Instead of pulling the sexual tension out until it was ridiculous, the show made it clear from the early episodes of last season that we were on a ride and Castle and Beckett were the destination. Read more »
Now that Castle and Beckett have gotten together, what could possibly be next for our heroic and love-struck detectives? Will they still be able to work together effectively? Can they keep their relationship a secret? Exactly how cute can they be while we watch? These promo videos for Castle season 5 episode 2, "Cloudy with a Chance of Murder" give us a clue. Read more »
Every relationship has its own share of problems. The first fight, the angry silence, the time you have to go on a fake date with a television reporter and accidentally make it to second base. You know, normal couple stuff. This week, Castle settled into its groove and began to answer the chief question on fans‘ minds after the dramatic, romantic and huge season premiere. That question being: just how will the show deal with Castle and Beckett as a couple, instead of just as a sexual tension machine? The answer, thus far, is humorously. Castle has always been closer to the comedy than drama side of the dramedy equation. If there‘s one thing Castle writers know how to do, it‘s crafting a good pun or setting up a funny scene. This is wise, because Nathan Fillion‘s innate charm lends even the most mundane scenes with energy. Now that Castle and Beckett are together, the writers are mining comedy out of their feeble attempts to keep their relationship to themselves. How well will Castle and Beckett hide their relationship from their detective coworkers? Only time will tell, but judging by this episode, it‘s only a matter of time before someone discovers their secret. My money‘s on Lanie.  Read more »
Are any secrets actually safe on a show like Castle? Judging from these videos from Castle season 5, episode 3, probably not. Someone finds out about Castle and Beckett! We learn about Captain Gates‘ strange hobby! There‘s murder (of course)! See glimpses of it all in these 6 videos from "Secret‘s Safe with Me." Read more »
Castle and Beckett‘s plan to keep their romance a secret was busted before they even made the plan. Not a surprise, it was Martha that figured it out first when she saw Beckett in her son‘s bedroom "the morning after." The couples covert actions were for naught. Read more »

ABC is making a lot of decisions about its shows these days. For some series, this is great news. For others, the news is less good. Keep reading to find out! Read more »
Castle has a lot in store for us this fall. From a surprising murder suspect to a sci-fi convention, the show‘s fall episodes have plenty going on. What exactly? Check out this video from Monday‘s episode, "Probable Cause," as well as official episode descriptions of the Castle episodes airing in October and November. Read more »
Is Castle capable of a horrible murder? The fact that we can even ask this question just goes to show what excellent characters they have on Castle. After all, psycho murder isn‘t a normal trait we expect from a TV hero. From Richard Castle, it almost makes sense. That may be why, in "Probable Cause," everyone suspects -- at least for a little while -- that Castle is the killer. What really happened? Check out this recap to find out. Read more »
OK, so Castle isn‘t a murderer. We‘ve established that. But what else could be coming from Castle in season 5? Find out with a whole bunch of spoilers on casting and upcoming episodes! Read more »

Shiny!Yes, Castle will boldly go where few crime procedurals have gone before: to a sci-fi convention. This episode -- one of the most entertaining of the series to date -- takes us deep into the realm of extreme science fiction when a mega-fan is murdered. With shout-outs to sci-fi classics like Star Trek, Star Wars, anime and, yes, Firefly, "The Final Frontier" is a Castle episode you do not want to miss. Check out these four videos for a sneak peek. Read more »
Tonight‘s Castle is not an episode to miss. You will love this episode if you have ever watched a sci-fi series (and, if you‘re a Castle fan who hasn‘t at least watched Firefly, what‘s wrong with you?). You will love this episode if you‘ve ever been to a comic or sci-fi convention. You will love this episode if you just enjoy funny, light-hearted Castle episodes. There really isn‘t a way to not enjoy "The Final Frontier." And here are five reasons why. Read more »
This week on Castle, the show remembers Nathan Fillion is a geek god and acts accordingly. The episode could have just been subtitled "Hey, did you hear Firefly turned ten? Anniversary episode anyone?" This episode was the most delightfully geeky thing I‘ve seen on television in a long time, and I often watch The Big Bang Theory. It was also a love letter to sci-fi fans in general, and Firefly fans in particular. It was almost impossible to count all the references to sci-fi, fantasy, and good old fashioned geekery it contained.  Read more »
Now that it‘s reached a fifth season, Castle is definitely ready to play with its style a little bit. So the documentary feel of the upcoming episode, "Swan Song," should not be much of a surprise. What may be a little more of a surprise is how each of the Castle characters chooses to react to the presence of cameras.See what the documentary crew caught in these four Castle videos from "Swan Song." Read more »
The biggest romantic story on Castle in season 5 has definitely been the hook-up of our favorite detective and mystery writer, but what about the rest of the team? According to the latest spoiler, it looks like there might be some sparks flying for somebody else on Team Castle. The question is: who is it?  Read more »
Castle can cross another couple themes off their to-do lists, including being followed by a documentary film crew and the legendary 27 Club. Beckett and her team got called to investigate when the lead singer, James Swan, of an soon-to-be-famous band was found dead in his trailer. The complication -- a documentary film crew that has been following the band and then gets approval to follow the investigation too."Swan Song" was a bit bizarre and that‘s saying a lot for a show that has covered Steam Punk, Aliens, Soap Operas, and even last week‘s Sci Fi convention episode. At first, I was annoyed by the documentary film aspect. Read more »

There‘s often a melancholy component of disappointment to the holidays, as idyllic notions of warmth and tradition are inevitably challenged by the chaos of real life. That‘s the exact situation Castle and Beckett face on their first Christmas together, as the enthusiastic Castle is forced to adapt to Becket‘s more wintry lack of cheer. This being Castle, the conflict is symbolized by a murdered man in a Santa suit falling out of the sky to his death. Read more »

This week on Castle, things get very "rise of the machines" as Castle and Beckett investigate a drone strike in the middle of Manhattan. The case certainly brings out the inner conspiracy theorist in Castle (always just a scratch below the surface) as he develops an elaborate Skynet-esque theory. It‘s the singularity! The machines are sentient ... and they have a plan! (Wait, wrong show.) Unfortunately for Castle, there are no Cylons or Terminators in sight, only a complicated family dynamic turned deadly. Read more »
