Articles for Castle Season 3

Monday was the official start of the fall season with 12 shows premiering on the major networks. With all networks going head-to-head, the ratings can predict what shows will succeed and which will fail.  Read more »
The ratings for premiere week are always a little inflated due to the excitement of a return, but the second Monday of the fall TV season paints a more accurate picture. Most shows fell in the ratings for week 2, including new shows like The Event, Hawaii Five-0 and even Lone Star.  Read more »
We‘re counting down the days until Christmas, and it just takes too long to send a handwritten note these days. We thought we‘d streamline the process for Santa a bit and put all our e-mails to Santa here so he can access them on the go with his iPhone. If he doesn‘t have an iPhone by now, the elves aren‘t doing their job. So here are BuddyTV‘s Christmas wishes for television.  Read more »
Castle returns from its midseason break on January 3 with matchmakers, doppelgangers and movie stars. And things get very interesting, very fast. Read more »
Hello, all you Castle fans.  Like most of you, I have been a huge fan of the show since day one, and I thought it a tragic shame that no one was writing about it here on BuddyTV.  So it is my privilege to announce that I will now be your Castle fan columnist.  But enough about that. Let‘s get started on the most recent episode of Castle, "Nikki Heat." Read more »
Castle is already back on the air (yay!), but that‘s no reason not to hope for some spoilers. And if you‘re going to spoil a show as good as Castle, the news had better be great.Fortunately, it is. Read more »
ABC is obviously pretty happy with many of their shows. Even though we‘re not quite halfway through the current season, the network has announced that it will pick up six of its shows for the 2011-2012 television season. Which shows have earned the love of their parent network? Read more »
Castle episodes have only just restarted after the mid-winter break, but that doesn‘t mean that we can‘t expect lots and lots of news about the show. Fortunately, there‘s a great deal of it out there. And things are looking good for the best writer/police detective crime-fighting team on television. Read more »
Hey, Castle fans! Was that a great episode or what? See, what I absolutely love about this show are the never-ending plot twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat, and this week‘s episode, "Poof! You‘re Dead," surely had a lot of them.  But enough talk. Let‘s get recapping! Read more »
Romantic relationships on TV shows don‘t always go the same way, but there are some standards. The show can totally deny feelings, engage in will-they-or-won‘t-they flirting or just bite the relationship bullet. Need proof that these are the routes? You don‘t need to look any further than Bones, Castle and Chuck. Read more »
This is it, people. The long-anticipated episode featuring that kiss is now upon us. And what an incredible episode of Castle it will be. Even though the kiss isn‘t just a kiss. Of course. Read more »
Oh. My. God. My favorite episode of Castle ever. Beckett is yet another step closer to finding out who ordered the hit on her mom, Ryan and Esposito proved how totally badass they are, and, oh yeah, did I forget to mention that Castle and Beckett kissed? For those of you who missed it or merely want to bask once more in the epic-ness that was "Knockdown," I adamantly urge you to read on, my friends! Read more »
Unless you‘re still reeling from Monday night‘s rather incredible episode (and kiss!), then you are probably ready for more spoiler-y news about Castle. Even if you‘re not, it‘s coming at you anyway. Get ready! Read more »
We already knew that Castle was planning a soap opera-themed episode this spring, but now the show has the sudsy cast to fill it. A list of guest stars for the episode has been released, and a lot of very familiar names are on it. Read more »
Oh wow, Castle fans.  I don‘t even know where to begin.  Although I was admittedly worried about how they were going to follow up "Knockdown," I just can‘t seem to say enough about how great this episode was, and I definitely want to give a shout out to the writers on this one. Job very well done!I mean, really, Castle just keeps getting better with each and every episode, and if anyone needs further proof as to why this is in my opinion the best show on television, let me tell you this: It makes me love and look forward to Mondays!  But I digress. Let‘s get to talking about all the Caskett goodness and everything else that went down in this week‘s episode, "Lucky Stiff." Read more »
All right, Castle fans, so in this week‘s episode we saw something we don‘t usually see: Castle and Beckett on completely opposite sides of a case.  Sure, they always have their witty back and forth moments, but in this week‘s episode it was like goodbye banter, hello tension.  And perhaps what was most unusual this time was the fact that the case, which is what normally brings the two lovebirds together, is what actually drove them temporarily apart.  But, alas, never fear, my friends! We all know a little bit of arguing every once in awhile is good for any relationship, and besides, these two are obviously way too smitten to stay mad at each other for long.  So, sit back and relax while I break down this week‘s episode, "The Final Nail."Be one of the first to "Like" our new Facebook page: Castle Ultimate Fan Page. Read more »
As a fair percentage of the Castle-watching population knows, star Nathan Fillion has done some other things on television. So it shouldn‘t be much of a surprise that Castle cannot totally contain its star this week. Read more »
Is it just me, or has Castle been getting darker recently? The heartbreak of Beckett‘s mother‘s murder was revisited, and then Castle had to deal with an old friend who turned out to be a killer. The fun is still there, but a dark cloud has been hanging over the show so far in 2011.Things get even darker this week. Read more »
Alright, Castle fans, I don‘t even know where to begin. Last night‘s episode, "Setup," the epic first part of the Castle two-parter, was seriously one of the best episodes of Castle I have ever seen. In fact, I think I can honestly say it is now my favorite episode, and I would, of course, like to thank the entire cast, the writers and really everyone involved for doing such a phenomenal job this week.   Also, for those of you who weren‘t aware, "Setup" was the 50th episode of Castle, so here‘s to another 50!  Now, for those of you who happened to miss this week‘s episode, get ready and please stick with me because things are about to get really involved and pretty intense. Read more »
I‘m not entirely sure that Castle star Nathan Fillion was expecting much more than a chuckle when he declared his love for Firefly in an interview last week. If that were the case, however, then Fillion definitely needs to pay more attention to the (over) reactions common to his old show‘s fan base. Because now he‘s got them mobilizing. Read more »
Probably not. But a recently-released sneak peek video for Monday‘s episode, "Countdown," does make it look that way.  Read more »
Oh. My. God, Castle fans.  That was one of the most intense episodes of Castle I‘ve seen since the conclusion of last year‘s two parter, "Boom." But really given that last night‘s episode, "Countdown" was written by series creator Andrew Marlowe, should we have been expecting anything less than epic?  In an almost 24-esque episode, this week‘s follow-up to last week‘s "Setup," saw Beckett, Castle, Fallon and the rest of our favorites at the 12th working overtime to find the bomb before it exploded, wreaking havoc all across New York City. Now, if you have not yet seen this week‘s episode of Castle, "Countdown," I highly recommend you do so before you read on. But, for those of you who have, get ready because things are about to get crazy.Want more Castle scoop? Check out our Castle Ultimate Fan Page on Facebook.  Read more »
Hey, Castle fans! So, if you‘re like me (suffering from an incurable case of Obsessive Castle Disorder that is), then you probably find yourself often wondering just what makes Castle so extraordinary. Why is it that you can‘t stop thinking about it? What is it about the show that has now made you look forward to Mondays? Why do you feel as if you‘re going insane when, like this week, there is no new episode? Read more »
Just when you think Castle can‘t get anymore meta, the show goes and springs an episode like "One Life to Lose" on us. And, as it so often is on Castle, meta translates into awesome. Read more »
You remember that "Nikki Heat" movie the Castle characters were talking about earlier in the season? Well, it‘s happening -- in the world of Castle anyway. And how could any decent, fictional movie make its debut without the presence of the source book‘s author? Or without an associated murder? It couldn‘t, of course. Read more »
In a clever nod to Nathan Fillion‘s soap opera past, this week‘s episode of Castle, "One Life to Lose," featured a host of soap opera guest stars. The cameos included Cameron Mathison, Rebecca Budig, Jane Seymour and Corbin Bernsen, just to name a few. The episode certainly did not disappoint. After two weeks of back-to-back heavy, intense episodes, "One Life to Lose" featured a return to the lighthearted and incredibly comical Castle we all know and love. And the best part? Why, the many subtle shoutouts to Castle fans of course. What with all the talk of shippers, crazed fans and bloggers, and even an official couple name (inspired by the fans themselves) given to the show‘s newest pair, Lanie and Esposito, it was difficult not to love this episode. So, as always, if you missed it, I definitely encourage you to watch last night‘s episode before reading this, because it‘s one you definitely don‘t want to miss. But for those of you who did see it, let‘s get recapping! Read more »
The upcoming episode of Castle set in Los Angeles is going to be positively bursting with guest stars, if recent casting news is to be believed. In addition to at least three prominent guest actors, we have news on the movie-versions of Ryan and Esposito. Read more »
Hey, Castle fans! In this week‘s very eventful episode, "Law & Murder," the juror on a high-profile murder case ends up dead as a result of cyanide poisoning, and Castle and Beckett must solve the case before it gets out of hand. Now, before I delve any deeper, I would like to take this time to wish the fantastically charming Nathan Fillion a happy belated 40th birthday. This was definitely a big one for our main man, but as it turns out, Mr. Fillion was not the only one with cause to celebrate recently.Last night, the lovely Stana Katic was awarded the Shorty Award in the "Actress" category, and, of course as we are all well-aware, it could not have gone to a better person. Congratulations, Stana! But now, let‘s not waste any more time. For those of you who missed this episode, definitely watch it before reading this. For the rest of you, let‘s get recapping!  Read more »
On this week‘s episode of Castle, "Slice of Death," Castle and Beckett investigate the death of a reporter whose already-dead body is found cooking quite nicely inside a pizza oven at a New York Pizzeria. Evidently, the victim, Gordon Burns, was writing an article about four local, competitive pizza-makers before he was half-baked and burned to a crisp, but the question remains: was he really killed over pizza? Now, for those of you who didn‘t see last night‘s episode, definitely watch it before you check back here, but for those of you who did, let‘s get recapping!  Read more »
Someone is doomed on Castle. Other than the murder victim of the week, of course. That death‘s a given. But a rumor has surfaced to indicate that a character will die in this season‘s Castle finale.  Read more »
It‘s a safe bet that that people behind Castle do not want you to know where reality ends and fiction begins. Castle plays poker with real bestselling novelists. You can purchase Richard Castle‘s first two Nikki Heat novels (with a third coming out in September). And now you can visit Richard Castle‘s official website.Pretty impressive for a guy who doesn‘t actually exist. Read more »
Hey, Castle fans! In this week‘s newest episode, "The Dead Pool," a champion swimmer is found dead in a pool as a result of drowning, which, given the unusual circumstances, causes Beckett and Castle to investigate. However, before I delve any deeper into this week‘s case, I must congratulate Castle on its award-winning day yesterday.  Read more »
It looks like nobody watched TV last night. Maybe people were too busy taking advantage of the fact that national parks are still open for business, but viewership was down across the board on Monday night, resulting in some of the worst ratings for top shows. Both Chuck and How I Met Your Mother hit all-time series lows for total viewers with their new episodes, while House had its lowest-rated episode since the first seven episodes of season 1 back in 2004.  Read more »
There are, alas, only a few episodes left in the current season of Castle. But it certainly sounds like the show is making those episodes count. With a trip to Los Angeles, a character death and more answers in the case of Beckett‘s mother, we know that the upcoming episodes will have a lot going on. What exactly? We have some spoilers to hint at what‘s to come. Read more »

Wow, Castle fans. What an episode! After a painfully long two-week break, Castle returned last night with an all-new episode, "To Love and Die in L.A.," in which Castle and Beckett go rogue and travel to Tinsel Town to investigate the murder of Beckett‘s training officer, Mike Royce. This was certainly a very unique episode of Castle with some obvious change-ups from the show‘s normal layout, so if you haven‘t seen the episode yet, I encourage you to do so before reading this.Of course, for those of you who did catch it, let‘s get recapping!  Read more »
Last night, reality competition reigned supreme, cops followed close behind and several shows proved that reruns really don‘t bring in the viewers.CBS‘ Dancing with the Stars ruled the night, with 19.59 million viewers the first hour, and 22.16 million the second -- typical numbers for the celebrity dancing competition, which is second in weekly ratings only to reigning champion American Idol. Check out our recap of last night‘s DWTS!The only show even close to touching DWTS‘ ratings last night might surprise you. The little show that could: Castle. Read more »
Overtime during the Heat/Celtics game might have contributed to some of the falling ratings for primetime television last night, with Chuck, Dancing with the Stars and How I Met Your Mother all dipping considerably in viewers from last week. However, a few resilient shows managed to weather the ratings slump. Read more »
Hey, Castle fans! With one more week until the mind-blowing season finale, Castle returned last night to its usual format and to New York for some lighthearted, entertaining fun. Written by series creator Andrew Marlowe‘s wife, Terri Miller, this week‘s episode of Castle, "Pretty Dead," found Castle and Beckett trying to solve the murder of a beauty queen who was choked from behind with her own sash. Talk about some cutthroat competition, right?Because next week‘s season finale is going to be so intense and emotional, this episode, like the Los Angeles episode last week, was a nice enjoyable episode and was deliberately written to be so before things really start to get crazy next Monday. But alas, back to this week‘s episode. For everyone who caught it, let‘s get recapping!  Read more »
Hey, Castle fans! So, if any of you have seen the promo for tonight‘s season finale, you know that things don‘t look that great for our favorite should-be couple. In fact, they look downright grim, so in light of this, I figured I would reflect on some of the greatest Caskett moments this season. Are you guys ready to relive all of the squee-worthy moments that Season 3 has offered us? Good, then let‘s get started! Read more »
ABC is pretty confident in its current lineup because most of its current shows are returning to the exact same time slots. Dancing with the Stars, Castle, Body of Proof, The Middle, Modern Family, Grey‘s Anatomy, Private Practice and Desperate Housewives are keeping the network anchored with returning favorites on nearly every night.  Read more »
Monday night was full of shocking season finales and giant cliffhangers. Barney‘s getting married on How I Met Your Mother (but to whom?), Naomi is pregnant with Max‘s baby on 90210 and Chuck completely changed the game for the 47th time with a brilliant setup for the final season. I‘m sure Gossip Girl did something too, but I gave up on that show a long time ago.The two best season finales, however, came from the 10pm cop dramas Castle and Hawaii Five-0, and though these two shows are world‘s apart, they had very similar season finales. Let‘s look at the evidence:  Read more »
Finales ruled Monday night, with Chuck, Castle, Hawaii Five-0, and How I Met Your Mother all enjoying hefty ratings increases with their season finales. And of course Dancing with the Stars fared well. We also said goodbye forever to a few shows.Castle wrangled a whopping 13.21 million, while Hawaii Five-0 managed 9.83 million. Both shows featured huge cliffhangers in their season finales, leaving fans hungry for more. How I Met Your Mother had 7.11 million viewers. Chuck‘s season finale drew 4.47 million viewers. All four shows are returning next season (Chuck for its final 13 episodes), but fans have a long summer ahead of them. Read more »
Oh. My. God. Castle fans, are you still alive after that unbelievable season finale? Incredibly written by the estimable Will Beall, last night‘s episode, "Knockout," definitely lived up to all the hype and was  nothing short of spectacular. In fact, it has definitely become my favorite Castle episode yet, and, in addition to all the stuff that went down in it, I‘m deeply saddened by the fact that Beall won‘t be returning to write for Castle next season.Although he has penned some of the best episodes to date, Beall has chosen to turn his eye to the silver screen with some impressive projects already lined up, and he promises the release of a new book, The Lionhunters, out soon. Therefore, I wanted to take this time, on behalf of the entire Castle fandom, to thank Will Beall for all of his tremendous work and to wish him all the best in his future endeavors. Despite our eagerness for your coming projects, Mr. Beall, you will be sorely missed. OK -- now for the hard part. I know I tell you every week that if you haven‘t seen the latest episode of Castle to watch it and then come back and read this when you do, but I‘m telling you: this has never been more true than right now. There will be major spoilers below.Alright, so now that that‘s out of the way and because there‘s just so much to cover, let‘s not waste any more time. Let‘s get recapping! Read more »
Before Monday night‘s Castle finale aired, we were all worried about which main character would die. Sure, all signs pointed towards Captain Montgomery biting the bullet, but we didn‘t expect him to be so closely related to the death of Beckett‘s mother. But that wasn‘t the biggest story of the night, was it? In a more cruel twist, Beckett is shot while delivering the eulogy at Montgomery‘s funeral. Castle spots the sniper, but goes to save Beckett a split-second too late. All he‘s left to do is ask her to hold on. Oh, and this:"I love you. I love you, Kate."Check out our recap of Castle‘s explosive season finale Read more »
Have you ever wished that you could jump inside the brain of your favorite TV star or writer so that even when the show wasn‘t on, you could witness their brilliance, insight and hilarity at all times?Well, even if you haven‘t wished it, since that‘s sort of a creepy (but understandable) wish, now you can, thanks to Twitter. Getting inside a star‘s head has never been easier! (Or less messy, if we‘re being literal. Which, for the record, we are not.)Here are our picks for 25 people on and involved with TV (both real and fictional!) that you‘ll want to make sure you follow this summer.  Read more »
