What is the BuddyTV Guide App?
The BuddyTV Guide App is the answer to a TV viewer’s most frequently asked question:
Why is there nothing to watch on TV?
The BuddyTV Guide app is a comprehensive TV discovery application for iOS. The BuddyTV
Guide app is an easy to use TV listings app that features the vast catalogs of popular
streaming services. Users can find TV programs, movies and sports and personalize the
app to fit their unique viewing interests.
What does the BuddyTV Guide App do?
BuddyTV Guide aggregates TV content from many sources including Cable and Satellite providers, Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Prime and Instant Video, iTunes and more. It enables users to find what they want to watch quickly while giving them the ability to tune in with various devices. Users can pin programs to their personalized Watchlist and custom Vibes for a quick, streamlined experience.
Can I use the BuddyTV Guide App to watch TV?
The BuddyTV Guide App is designed to help you find what to watch, and to then tune into it. If what you want to watch is on cable or satellite, the BuddyTV Guide App cannot help you watch that on your device (ex. iPhone). If what you want to watch is on one of the supported streaming services (currently Netflix and Amazon, more to come...), one of the options provided when you tap the “Tune In” button is to watch it on your device.
Why do I need to log in / register with BuddyTV to use the BuddyTV Guide App?
Registering to use the app helps us sync your favorites, recommendations, and settings across multiple devices. This means that whatever device you’re using, you’ll get the same, fast, accurate recommendations you’d get anywhere.
What is a Watchlist?
A Watchlist is your customized guide featured on your Homepage. By pinning specific TV programs, movies or sporting events to the Watchlist you can see what is available to watch at a specific scheduled time through your cable/satellite provider or what can be watched instantly (Instawatch) on services you subscribe to. Watchlist offers a customizable reminder feature so you can be sure you’ll never miss your favorite program.

What is a Vibe?
A Vibe is a curated or user-generated playlist/ mini-guide that can be as generic as a genre or as specific as a mood. Obsessed with Vampires? Feeling nostalgic and want to watch the top movies from the 80s? Want to veg out on mindless redneck TV? Vibes allow you to combine your favorite shows, movies and/or sports together. They’re fun to browse, easy to create and can be shared.

Why is a Vibe blank when I know there are programs in it?
Certain Vibes will appear blank due to your filter settings. The default tab for all Vibes is your cable/satellite provider. If there are no upcoming airings for the Vibe programs it will appear blank. If this is the case, you can tap on a different Vibe filter icon (ie: “Instawatch” or “A-Z”) to see what is available based off of their available sources.

How do I find a Vibe I created but accidentally unpinned?
You can find all the Vibes you’ve created by tapping on the “Browse Vibes” icon on the Homescreen. Then tap on “My Vibes” filter.
How can I make my Vibes hidden or public?
Vibes remain private unless you decide to share them. When creating a Vibe you’re given the option to make the Vibe “Visible to All Users.” Tap the icon to make it public (it will turn blue). Tap it again to keep it only visible to you.
You can edit these settings by tapping on the “Info” icon (lowercase “I” with a circle) in the upper right hand corner of your Vibe.

My remotes are not working, what can I do?
The most common problem users run into, is that your device (ex. iPhone) and the TV equipment (ex. Google TV) you’re trying to control are not on the same network. This is common especially with iPhones because they will switch from Wi-Fi to 3G. One way to prevent this from happening is to disable cellular data on your iPhone while using it as a remote control. Another common reason for this is that your device switches to another Wi-Fi network that may be available. When troubleshooting make sure your device is on the same network as the equipment.
See here for ways to troubleshoot remote controls
Should I tap the TUNE IN button even if I don’t use it to control my TV equipment?
Yes. BuddyTV uses this information to create more accurate recommendations for you. Without knowing what you watch we are just guessing what you’ll want to watch.
