Articles for Bones Season 4

Bones is back. After a summer that saw the show‘s popularity grow thanks to reruns on TNT and left fans waiting to see how the team at the Jeffersonian handles Zack‘s arrest, Bones returns tonight with a special two-hour premiere at 8pm on FOX.BuddyTV spoke to the lovely Michaela Conlin, who plays the sweet Angela Montenegro on Bones, about the new season. Conlin talked about the premiere set in London, when fans will finally get to see Angela‘s mysterious husband, plus some other fun surprises Bones has on tap this seaso Read more »
Previously on Bones: Dr. Zack Addy (Eric Millegan) was busted as Gormagon‘s apprentice and promptly arrested, leaving a hole in the hearts of the Jeffersonian team.We begin tonight‘s new episode of Bones at Oxford University, where Brennan (Emily Deschanel) is giving some boring lecture about forensic anthropology. Booth (David Boreanaz) is asleep in the audience, snoring rather loudly. Bones asks him to stand as she acknowledges that her brand of “logical empiricism” isn‘t always good, citing Zack, which gets Booth riled up. The speech ends, and Bones makes googly eyes at Professor Ian Wexler. Read more »
After a season finale that divided critics and received flak for failing to meet most expectations, Fox series Bones crossed the Atlantic to, hopefully, open its fourth season with a bang.  Shot in the U.K., the two-hour premiere called “Yanks in the UK” aired last Wednesday, September 3.  While there are several unkind reviews, there are also those who found the vigorous stereotyping of Bones funny and, overall, worth watching.  After a dismal season finale, however, critics noted that it had to do much more to save itself.Part of the enjoyment most Bones fan get watching the show is seeing the somehow odd coupling of Temperance “Bones” Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz).  Of course, simplistically, Brennan is seen as the brains in the duo, while Booth is the brawn.  When the pair traveled to London, it really was like fish out of water. Read more »
The rather comical second episode of Bones‘ fourth season begins with a truck driver in search of an outhouse. Do those things still exist? He finds one and, as some men do, he decides to enjoy a cigarette while doing his business. Unfortunately, as soon as he lights it, the outhouse goes up in flames. The truck driver is flung into the air and miraculously survives, though his first order of business is to stop, drop and roll to put out the fire on his butt.Booth (David Boreanaz) stops by Bones‘ apartment to pick her up, and he‘s shocked to see a half-naked beefcake. On the drive to the crime scene, Bones has no shame about her purely physical relationship with the deep sea welder because, though they have nothing in common, he satisfies her sexual needs. She proudly boasts he can hold his breath for three minutes, and Booth‘s mind goes straight to a dirty place. Read more »
During the second episode of the Fox procedural Bones, Booth (David Boreanaz) found a half-naked man in Bones‘ (Emily Deschanel) apartment.  Bones, who wasn‘t exactly shy in admitting to purely physical relationships, might just have given Bones viewers a hint on how their promise of a Bones-Booth hook-up would shape up.As for the ratings, Bones delivered the goods.  The Fox show pretty much retained its 9.7 season premiere viewers, with 9.15 million who tuned in nationwide for the next episode.  Consequently, it conquered the night‘s 8pm opening slot by two shares in the demographics.  Things weren‘t as cheery when 9pm rolled around for Fox, however, as the season premiere of ‘Til Death and Do Not Disturb lagging behind the other major networks‘ offerings. Read more »
Before we go to the preview of tonight‘s episode on Bones, David Boreanaz, who plays Booth on the series, said it would really help Bones if he was given more action sequences.  Sounds like a valid request, as he plays an FBI agent who works with forensic scientist Bones (Emily Deschanel).  This, after revealing that he looks up to Bruce Willis more than any other actor.  In fact, he plans to model his career after Willis‘, particularly how the 1985 romantic comedy series Moonlighting led to movie roles for the actor.  “I actually bumped into him ... and he couldn‘t have been nicer,‘‘ he said. The last episode of Bones called “The Man in the Outhouse” turned out the way its promo promised – one of the gooiest cases thus far.  An explosion in an outhouse left a body in the sewage.  The body turns out to be that of a reality TV host who earned the ire of so many people that to single out just one who would want him dead was impossible.  Also, we caught wind of Booth finding a pretty, half-naked guy in Bones‘ apartment, who‘d later justify his presence by saying that “he can hold his breath for 3 minutes down there,” humoring Booth to no end.Potential spoilers ahead. Read more »
Roswell star and recently ABC Family‘s Samurai Girl mainstay Brendan Fehr will be joining Fox‘s top-rated series Bones as Jared Booth, brother of FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz).  According to earlier reports, the appearance of Jared on Bones will potentially cause severe obstacles for the original duo, Bones (Emily Deschanel) and Booth.  Both Fehr and Boreanaz are products of highly successful WB series; Roswell for Fehr and Buffy the Vampire Slayer for Boreanaz.“I‘m going to be playing Jared Booth, D. Boreanaz‘s younger brother,” Fehr, 30, wrote on his personal site.  “At any rate, it‘s going to be a lot of fun and I‘m really looking forward to it.  The character is great and well written and will be something I haven‘t really done yet.  He‘s got a lot of stuff to work with on the screen and with a great back story so here‘s to not screwing it up.” Read more »
On the last Silence of the Lambs-like episode of Bones, a teenager finds a dismembered body in a weird purple pool of water.  Bones (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) arrived at the scene to find that the head was missing.  Later on, thanks to Wendell‘s help, the body was identified as that of sci-fi writer Jared Addison, who wasn‘t the most mentally stable person in the world, to say the least. Sweets (John Francis Daley) used his psychological insights to get into the victim‘s potentially crazy head, which, by the way, was still missing.  So they tried to examine the bones without the head and Wendell noticed a fracture in the finger bone. This was the part where they took those hilarious clips on Brennan asking Sweets whether he has had a relationship with an older woman – for research.  Zack continues to study the case from his psychiatric facility while Hodgins gave him some information. Read more »
Last week on Bones, we followed the team in their quest to sort through the remains of a despised office manager, which was found in an elevator shaft.  The team immediately set out to find out which employee was responsible for the murder and later discovers that the manager had more than enough complaints filed against him.  We also saw Angela and Hodgins try to resolve their issues in the lab following their break-up.Tonight, Bones returns with another new fourth season episode airing tonight at 8pm on FOX. Read more »
Last week‘s episode of Bones had Booth and Brennan investigating a body they found in the Chesapeake Bay.  When they got there, they only found the upper torso, rendering the whole thing very difficult to start probing, save for the victim‘s breast implants.  Their search led the two to a small Maryland church, where they learned that the victim was a pastor.  Now after finding the rest of the body, they realized they‘ve been wrong all along. Now, the next episode of Bones will not air until November 5, but it sounds very exciting.  A suspect would reveal that she‘s a lesbian and she used to be in a romantic relationship with someone in the lab.  To satiate every Bones fans‘ craving for some Bones development, Entertainment Weekly reports that comedian and Conan O‘Brien sidekick Andy Richter will guest-star in an upcoming episode of the Fox series set to air in January. Read more »
The news of the World Series preempting new episodes of Bones until November 5th hasn‘t really gone over well with fans.  After “The He in the She” last October 8, there won‘t be new episodes of Bones until November 5th with “The Skull in the Sculpture.”  Fox usually does this, but unlike Bones, Do Not Disturb will only be off the air for one week.  And to be positive about it, the new episodes are supposed to be worth the wait.  For one, there are always good spoilers to look forward to, such as comedian Andy Richter guest-starring in a circus-themed episode that will air sometime in January. For a new round of Bones casting news, TV Guide reports that Side Order of Life star Marisa Coughlin will guest-star in a midseason episode of the Fox series.  She will play FBI agent Payton Perotta who will take over a case after Booth (David Boreanaz) has to remove himself because of some conflicts on interest.  In fact, Booth himself becomes a suspect in the case. Read more »
Tonight will be the third week without Bones on Fox, thanks to the World Series.  On the last episode, skeletal remains are found in the Chesapeake Bay and Brennan and Booth to investigate.  The thing is, only the upper torso of the victim was intact, so the team had little to work at.  Fortunately, the remnants of the victim’s breast implants were there, too.  Their probe led them to a small church community in Maryland, discovering that the victim was a pastor, only they don’t have any record of her before she moved to the small town five years ago.As we wait for the resumption of Bones next week, a critic from the Los Angeles Times commented on how it’s precisely the lack of sex and the resulting tension that makes the Bones-Booth dynamic one of a kind and exciting. Read more »
This is it.  The long wait is finally over.  After weeks of Bones-less Wednesday nights, the FOX series will be back with an episode tonight. Booth suspects that something is wrong when a corpse is found inside a crushed car in an art gallery.  He senses a cover-up.  Meanwhile, the assistant of the artist said she remembers him saying he is depressed and wants to be part of the exhibit himself.  They start wondering if the corpse could be him. While prepping up for tonight‘s new episode, Bones executive producer Hart Hanson gives us some insights on some very delectable news we shared weeks ago – that of Roswell star Brendan Fehr joining the cast on next week‘s episode as Jared Booth, the brother of Seeley (David Boreanaz).  Previously, we reported that this Jared character will cause some obstacle to the highly anticipated Bones-Booth hook-up.  Hanson gives us some hints on how the November 12th (next week) episode will shape up.Small spoilers ahead Read more »
FOX released their full 2009 mid-season schedule today.  A great many of you will be disappointed with what has been done.  Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, a series who many thought would keep its time-slot come January and reap the benefits of being the lead-in for 24, will be moved to Fridays, beginning February 13.  As savvy TV viewers know, Fridays are where TV shows go to die.  If a network moves you from mid-week to Friday, it is a death sentence.  In addition, Terminator will be joined on Friday nights by the new Joss Whedon series Dollhouse.  After Firefly, you‘d think that FOX would be done screwing with Whedon and his fans.  Apparently not.  It will be a major, major upset if Dollhouse succeeds on Friday nights.  OK.  Let‘s get the nitty gritty out of the way before we go to the commentary (i.e. “whining”): Read more »
For starters, Fox just announced that it will be moving Bones to Thursday night 8pm starting January 15, meaning it will go against Smallville on the CW.  This is important since there have been shows in the past that suffered ratings-wise because some of its viewers didn‘t get to be informed of their new timeslot. On the last episode of Bones, a corpse was found inside a crushed car that seemed eerily like those car sculptures made by an artist named Geoffrey Thorne.  We got to meet the very sensual and intelligent Roxie Lyon, Thorne‘s assistant, who admitted that the artist had been depressed lately.  As it turned out, Roxie is one of Angela‘s old friends.  After Booth asked her if she slept with Geoffrey, she said no and added a few more tidbits of info (like she was lesbian and Angela was her “muse”). Read more »
Before we go to the preview, Fox reports that Bones‘ viewership is up 14 percent from last fall.  If Bones was known before as a cult show, its season-high 10.9 million viewers is slowly becoming a very popular cult. The last episode of the Fox procedural opened with some state troopers in training on why we do not shoot tear gas into meth labs – because they tend to explode.  In perfect timing, a body came propelled from the meth lab.  At first, it was thought to be the body of a struggling investor‘s father.  But when a second body surfaced, the team is suddenly unsure of what was happening and who was responsible. We also got to meet Booth‘s little brother Jared (Brendan Fehr) – a navy man with a new job at the Pentagon.  Brennan was obviously smitten with him, despite warnings from Angela and Cam not to sleep with him because it‘d be a little creepy (and that‘s his "Booth-lite"). Read more »
The last episode of Bones attracted some 10.7 million viewers to finish ahead of CBS‘ The New Adventures of Old Christine and Gary Unmarried with 8.1 million.  On the episode “The Passenger in the Oven,” Booth and Brennan were on their way to China so that Brennan could identify prehistoric remains to watch over the equipment.  Things didn‘t go the way they planned when a flight attendant discovered a fully cooked human body in the plane‘s industrial microwave (hence the title).  A lot of fans liked the way it began: with Bones in first class and Booth in coach.Moving on, the duo had to use the Internet with the team in the Jeffersonian and use Brennan‘s high-tech equipment to send evidence back on the ground for processing.  They discovered that the victim was a travel writer working on a controversial story about airline pilots.  Now it got tricky when the plane neared landing in China where the two had no jurisdiction over the case. Read more »
David Boreanaz is popularly known for his leading roles as Angel on the supernatural series of the same name and as Seeley Booth on Bones.  But the 39-year-old actor is no stranger behind the cameras as well.  In 2004, he directed the episode called “Soul Purpose” for Angel and now, he‘s ready to do it all over again.  This time, however, he‘ll be working on his first ever episode of the hit FOX crime show."I‘ve done it before and I look forward to directing Bones for the first time," Boreanaz said.  "I like the process of it so it‘ll be a good time.  I enjoy the directing aspect, producing and acting - all the spiel!" Read more »

Previously, we reported that David Boreanaz is all set up to direct his first Bones episode.  Of course, it bears mentioning that the 39-year-old had directed an episode of Angel and it was a fairly good episode, if fans of the show are to be believed.  Despite admitting that Bones is different and it can be “a squeamish business” at least relative to vampire series Angel (which is somehow dark but not gross), it is still comforting to know that Boreanaz has experience in directing and he won‘t venture to the entire thing blind.  "I like the process of it so it‘ll be a good time.  I enjoy the directing aspect, producing and acting - all the spiel!"As for Boreanaz, who plays the male lead Seeley Booth on the Fox procedural, he admits that he is not immune to being grossed out whenever they shoot Bones, as it regularly deals with icky fake body parts that are not for the faint of heart.  "You just make sure that you‘re not eating or having lunch," he said.  "It gets a bit graphic, the bodies that happen, they always have the maggots that are eating the bodies or a rat that‘s scurrying in and out." Read more »
Now being a “shipper” is a very serious thing. I mean, as your characters fall in love, you do too. 2008 was full of great television relationships. We had to narrow it down to a lucky 20 for BuddyTV users to choose from.Any shipper fanatic knows their “ship” inside and out. I, for one, will always be a LoVe shipper. That is - Logan and Veronica of Veronica Mars. 2008 saw the development of new ships, the crumble of others, and the long lasting tension of our older ships. Overall, it‘s been a great year for most shippers. The competition will be fierce as there are a lot of fans out there. When we did our “Which One Tree Hill Couple is Best” showdown, Brook and Lucas pulled out the win from underneath Leyton and Naley fans. MiSa (Michael and Sara from Prison Break) fans have been known to be a powerful force. Read more »
“I can‘t believe he‘s teething,” says Kiefer Sutherland. The elevator at the Palomar Hotel in Los Angeles ascends quickly to the 16th floor.  I stand, staring unapologetically, as Kiefer Sutherland and Mary Lynn Rajskub stand next to me and talk.  Well, perhaps that‘s not accurate – Kiefer does the talking, complimenting various aspects of Rajskub‘s status as a new mother (hence the above quote), while Mary Lynn embraces Kiefer from behind, exuding a silent affection for TV‘s Jack Bauer that could, in no way, be construed as disingenuous.  Kiefer is well under six feet tall and has a voice like a rock quarry, all gravel and dust.  Despite his DUIs and past transgressions, Kiefer seems like a kind, intelligent, normal guy who ended up famous for probably every reason other than the fact he desired it. You get the sense that he never wanted the fame he holds, and would rather have a beer with a local townie than a martini with a Hollywood executive.   Mary Lynn Rajskub the Actress is almost unrecognizable juxtaposed to Chloe O‘Brian the Character.  The actress is skinny, charmingly disheveled, and has smiled more in the last thirty seconds than Chloe has on all of her 24 seasons combined.  The elevator bell dings, the 16th floor opens before us, Kiefer Sutherland gets out of my way, and I head to my room.  Read more »
From Fox‘s official press release:In the second hour, they investigate another murder when a father and son find a frozen body in a pond while ice-fishing.  When the man is identified as a rival hockey player Booth fought with during a recent game, he becomes the main suspect.  FBI Agent Payton Perotta (guest star Marisa Coughlan) is brought in to assist Brennan with the investigation.  As Booth gets back onto the ice, he receives some advice from one of his hockey idols, former Los Angeles Kings star Luc Robitaille, in the "Double Trouble in the Panhandle/Fire in the Ice" episode of Bones airing Thursday, January 22 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. Read more »
If the promo for the finale of May 14 Bones is to be believed, Bones (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) will finally be doing the long-anticipated horizontal tango after four long seasons of protracted teasing and furtive flirting.  The central tandem of the hit Fox procedural, however, will not be doing so because of love and it does not necessarily mean they‘ll end up as a couple, Deschanel tells E! Online. In fact, Deschanel adds, her character wasn‘t very keen on becoming a mother, but something in Booth will make her decide otherwise. Read more »
If there were any doubts as to whether or not Bones (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) will finally do it on the May 14 finale, Deschanel tells E! Online that the big romp, four seasons in the making, will finally happen."It should be surprising and good.  The way it happens is surprising," she says. Read more »
After confirming that the heavily anticipated romp will finally materialize in the May 14 finale of Bones, Emily Deschanel, the star of the hit Fox procedural, tells Zap2it that the final episode of the season will see a very different character from the typical Bones that she plays."You‘ll see a [much] softer Brennan," she says.  "I don‘t know if it‘s very soft, but Brennan, you see her in a different situation.  There was an episode in the season where we went undercover in the circus, and this is similar in that you get to see these characters in a totally different environment at times, and so you see a different side of the character." Read more »
By now, every decent Bones fans know that Bones (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) will be hopping to bed on the Fox procedural‘s May 14 season finale, but if Deschanel is to be asked, it‘s about time."It‘s been four years, it‘s been something everyone has been waiting for some time," she said.  Read more »

The Bones episode featuring cartoon land‘s beloved megalomaniac baby Stewie Griffin from Family Guy will air tonight.  As reported previously, Brennan (Emily Deschanel) is set to ask Booth (David Boreanaz) to be the "baby daddy" of her kid.  And while she assures him that he‘ll be under "no obligation" to look after the welfare of the baby, he still feels the pressure, and in one dream sequence, starts to hallucinate and imagine Stewie.  The Family Guy import, meanwhile, asks him why he‘s "threatened by a cute, harmless baby."For Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, the team-up with the Fox forensic procedural had been a breeze and the Stewie cameo was done in "a classy way." Read more »
There is a lot at stake on the season 4 finale of Bones - "The End in the Beginning" - tonight.  First on the list is the ongoing matter of Bones (Emily Deschanel) finding a suitable baby daddy, and Booth (David Boreanaz) pondering on the task at hand.   Meanwhile, a dead body is found at a club called The Lab, and the team is called to do some unexpected and unusual things that have to do with the club.  Bones‘ ex-assistant and now pro forensic anthropologist Zack Addy (Eric Millegan) is a suspect in this episode, which will also see the return of Brennan‘s father Max Keenan (guest star Ryan O‘Neal). If we‘d remember, the last time we saw Booth, he was having visions of notoriously sexually ambiguous baby Stewie before being wheeled to surgery.  You see Brennan popped the question of having a baby, and Booth could hardly be blamed for the hallucinations, partly, we like to think, because he doesn‘t want to just have a baby but something more. Read more »
While clearly, there was a lot of things going on with the Bones finale.  Apart from the Bones-Booth romp, Stewie, and Motley Crue, however, there was also the much-anticipated return of Zack, played by Eric Millegan, who was replaced in season 4 after he received his doctorate in forensic anthropology in the sophomore season.  As for Emily Deschanel, who plays the titular character on the Fox procedural, having Zack back on the Bones set was "wonderful.""I enjoy his company so much.  I became friends with him over the years, like I have with most of the cast, and it was really hard to not have him around all the time.  But that said, when he came back for the finale, it was as if no time had passed.  He just walked in, and it was great to act with him again and hang out with him on set. It was a breath of fresh air." Read more »
If this is any indication, it seems as if the days of big press conferences and announcements are over, as everybody - including network bigwigs - are opting to make big revelations via Twitter.  Fox and sister studio 20th Century Fox TV reportedly sealed a two-year renewal for procedural Bones, but it was executive producer Hart Hanson who revealed the news via an at most 140-character Tweet."Just got a call from Bones Fox exec James (‘Don‘t call me Jimmy") Oh with an official unofficial pickup,"  Hanson reveals to his Twitter followers Saturday morning. "Bones is back for Season V!" Read more »
Today FOX officially announced its schedule for the 2009-2010 TV season, and some of the changes are huge.  Aside from the great news that Dollhouse will be coming back for a second season, the other big story is that So You Think You Can Dance, which premieres its fifth season this Thursday, will air in the Fall as well for an immediate sixth season. The So You Think You Can Dance move is unusual, but helps to balance out the schedule since FOX has American Idol in the Spring.  It also gives FOX the chance to do direct competition with Dancing with the Stars, a show that in recent seasons has taken several professional from former SYTYCD contestants.More Fall Lineups:FOXABCNBCCBSThe CW Read more »
