Howie Mandel is arguably one of today's most affable performers. Following six years on the critically acclaimed series St. Elsewhere, which catapulted him to national fame and earned him Emmy nominations, he found steady work in both film and television while continuing to work as a successful comedian. For this reason, he was given a star on the Hollywood of Walk of Fame on September 4.
While Mandel, who has been in the business for three decades, has an impressive roster of credits to his name, he significantly gives credit and recognition for his present hosting gig on Deal or No Deal.

As previously hinted, Deal or No Deal celebrated its first million dollar winner last Monday. The first person in the show's history to win the top prize came in the form of Jessica Robinson, 27, from Sandee, Utah.
Robinson played during the Million Dollar Mission on the Deal or No Deal episode airing September 1. With five million dollar cases, she eliminated the first four quickly, putting even more pressure on her decision. The final three amounts on the board were $100,000, $200,000, and $1,000,000. She turned down a final bank offer of $561,000 and decided put it all on the line for the money. She kept her case, number 4, and won the million.

After the first three seasons, Deal or No Deal has never had a contestant win the million dollar top prize. The game is so simple and random that, after 246 episodes, the law of averages dictates that a few people would've won the million by now. Fifteen contestants have actually chosen the million dollar case, but they all took deals to give up their case.
In season 4, that's all about to change. Premiering last Monday, NBC has promised that this season, Deal or No Deal will have its first million dollar winner. If you want to know exactly when that first lucky contestant will get the grand prize so you know when to tune in, continue reading.

Network: NBC
Premiere: Monday, August 25, 8pm
Host: Howie Mandel
Premise: Contestants choose a briefcase with a monetary unit labeled inside. From there, they choose from a selection of numbered briefcases, each with different monetary values inside. After every round, more briefcases are unearthed, their monetary values discovered, and the banker offers the player a “deal,” which is essentially a buy out. Players have the option of eliminating all briefcases and then taking home the value labeled inside their own briefcase, but that almost never happens. It's a game that requires almost no skill.

For the first time in the sixty years of existence, the Emmy Awards will be honoring five of the nation's most outstanding reality TV hosts. Among those nominees announced earlier this month are Ryan Seacrest for FOX's American Idol, Tom Bergeron for ABC's Dancing with the Stars, Howie Mandel for NBC's Deal or NO Deal, Heidi Klum for Bravo's Project Runway and Jeff Probst for CBS' Survivor. Aside from vying for the first ever Emmy for Outstanding Host For a Reality Or Reality-Competition Program, the nominees will be hosting the Emmy Awards night on September 21st at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, marking the first time that a group of individuals under one nomination category will be hosting the show.
"We're excited by the addition of this new category, as it reflects the broad appeal of reality television, and think it will be one of the most competitive moments of the night," Senior Vice President for Alternative Series, Specials and Late Night, ABC Entertainment Vicki Dummer told Reality TV Website. "We're thrilled to see these hosts' roles and talent recognized, and look forward to watching them do what they do best on Emmy night."
