The saga of Wayne and Dahlia Malloy continues tonight, when The Riches returns to FX with it's brand-spanking new second season. For fans of Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver, who essay the roles of the hustler duo, that is the good news.
Now comes the bad part – revelry in fresh episodes of The Riches won't last too long as the sophomore season, which takes off tonight, has been downsized to just half its originally planned run.

While the writers' strike may be close to a resolution, the resulting financial fallout resulting has proven to be devastating for networks such as FX. Stating financial reasons as the culprit, the network has decided reduce episodes for this season's The Riches and Dirt.
Instead of 13 episodes, only seven episodes of The Riches and Dirt will air for the upcoming season. Both shows have finished seven episodes before the strike began. Rather than resuming filming on the remaining episodes in the order, the network has decided to stick with what it's got, even if that means unfinished story arcs.

Minnie Driver, who plays the character Dahlia Malloy on The Riches, is attempting to revive her music career with a new second album entitled “Seastories.”
Driver’s second album, which will be distributed by Zoe/Rounder Records, is due out on July 10, 2007. It has been recorded in two sessions, in New York City’s Loho Studios and in Los Angeles. "There was a whole flavor to the New York sessions that was darker and more insular, while the L.A. vibe was open, sunnier and more hopeful," describes Driver who will be going on a U.S. tour this summer to promote her album.

Last Monday night, FX aired its latest original series entitled The Riches which upshot sold ratings and garnered positive reviews.
The Riches, a serial drama created by Dmitry Lipkin is a one-hour drama, which follows a family of con artists who lives as buffers in suburbia. Directed by Carl Franklin, the show features the award-winning comedian Eddie Izzard (Wayne Malloy) and Academy award nominated actress Minnie Driver (Dahlia Malloy) as a married couple engaged in various swindles and antics. The show also showcases their children such as Shannon Marie Woodward as Di Di Malloy, Noel Fisher as Cael Malloy, Aidan Mitchell as Sam Malloy, and a bunch of Irish travelers who also work as thieves and con artists.
