Paul Guilfoyle as Jim Brass

Paul Guilfoyle was born on April 28, 1949 in Boston, Massachusetts. He studied at Boston College High School and earned his degree in Economics from the prestigious Yale University. Prior to his successful career on stage, Guilfoyle trained in acting at the Actor’s Studio, of which he is currently a member.

Guilfoyle dedicated twelve years of his life to the Theater Company of Boston, and performed in David Rabe’s The Basic Training of Pavlo Hummel and David Mamet’s Glengarry Glen Ross. He made his big screen debut on the film Howard The Duck, and although it was a box office failure, Guilfoyle went on to appear in various other productions, usually portraying questionable and seedy characters. He has appeared in over 70 films, among which are Air Force One, Primary Colors, The Negotiator, Amistad, In Dreams, Random Hearts, LA Confidential, Striptease, Extreme Measure, Ransom, Final Analysis, Cadillac Man, Quiz Show, Wall Street, Session 9, The Murderer, Beverly Hills Cop, 3 Men and a Baby, The Serpent and the Rainbow, Dealers, Hoffa, Anywhere But Here, Company Man and Tempesta.

Currently, he appears regularly on the hit television series, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. His portrayal of Captain Jim Brass has earned him the opportunity to share a 2005 Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series with the rest of the cast, which include William Petersen and Marg Helgenberger. His other television credits include Miami Vice, Law & Order , Ally McBeal , Roanoak, Crime Story, Spenser: For Hire, Kate and Allie, Internal Affairs, Wiseguy, Kojak: Fatal Flaw, Big Time, True Colors, Civil Wars, Notorious, Class of ’61, Fallen Angels, Amelia Earheart: The Final Flight, September, Central Park West, New York Undercover, Secret Agent Man, CSI: Miami and Night Visions. He was also cast in Alter Bridges’ “Broken Wings” music video.

He and his wife, choreographer Lisa Giobbi, live in New York City. They have one daughter named Snowden.

Filmography

Guilfoyle appeared in Howard the Duck and in an early episode of Crime Story as a criminal who gets into a shootout with the MCU. He takes a hostage, played by Lorraine Bracco. His television appearances most notably include guest roles on Miami Vice, Law & Order, New York Undercover, and Ally McBeal. His film credits are numerous, spanning nearly three decades. His appearances in notable films include Three Men and a Baby, Wall Street, Beverly Hills Cop II, Quiz Show, Hoffa, Mrs. Doubtfire, Air Force One, Striptease, Amistad, The Negotiator, Extreme Measures, Primary Colors and L.A. Confidential.

Guilfoyle also appears in Alter Bridge's video for their single "Broken Wings", and the HBO original movie Live from Baghdad.
