MOMent #9 - Lois' Dreams for Her Son

May 11, 2008

Jane Kaczmarek, Malcolm in the MiddleIn honor of Mother's Day, BuddyTV has compiled this list of our 10 favorite motherly moments.

Through the entire run of Malcolm in the Middle, Lois (Jane Kaczmarek) was a force to be reckoned with, a terrifying woman who often engaged in all-out war with her own kids. Malcolm felt his mother was trying to ruin his life, but in the series finale, when Lois makes Malcolm turn down a very lucrative job offer, he gets fed up and demands an explanation.

What Are They Up To? Malcolm in the Middle's Daniel von Bargen

August 25, 2007

malcolm in the middleAs Commandant Edwin Spangler, Daniel von Bargen was known as the strict and hard-nosed military veteran on Malcolm in the Middle.  He was noted for suffering various injuries, including a missing eye and several fingers, which he ironically endured outside the war.  He was introduced as the person in charge of the cadets at Marlin Academy, where he deemed Francis (Christopher Masterson) as his most rebellious student.  In the course of the series, however, Francis helped Spangler find a new job, after getting dismissed from the academy, at a retirement home where he gets to boss around senior citizens.  Next year, the 57-year-old actor will be gracing the silver screen with a high comic-adventure project.

What Are They Up To? Malcolm in the Middle's Christopher Masterson

August 25, 2007

malcolm in the middleChristopher Masterson became popular for his role as the troublemaker Francis on the sitcom Malcolm in the Middle.  His character was the oldest son of Lois and Hal, and was regarded by his younger siblings, Reese (Justin Berfield), Malcolm (Frankie Muniz), and Dewey (Erik Per Sullivan) as a rule-breaking role model.  Exiled to a military academy, he was noted for a number of mischievous acts such as breaking curfew, drinking, nose-piercing and sleeping around.  Towards the end of the series, his deadbeat ways soon vanished, as he got a job at a large corporation and a seemingly pregnant wife.  This ultimately completed Francis's transition into adulthood, ending up with an extremely similar fate like that of his parents.
