Biography

American actress Lauren Lane was born on February 2, 1961 in Oklahoma City. She grew up in Texas and studied at the University of Texas, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She went on to earn a Master’s degree from San Francisco’s American Conservatory Theatre. After graduation, she worked on several theater productions such as Burn This, The Imaginary Invalid, Uncle Vanya, Dinner With Friends, and No End of Blame. She was also a member of The Actors’ Gang, an experimental theater company headed by Tim Robbins.

Lauren Lane began acting in 1984, and has appeared on several television shows during her career. She was first seen on the horror-comedy film Interface, written and directed by Andy Anderson. She next made an appearance on the thriller Positive I.D., working with the same director. From 1989 to 1991, Lane got a role in the series Hunter. She followed this up with a recurring part in L.A. Law, and soon acted on the series South Beach. She was also cast on the TV production, Perry Mason: The Case of the Skin-Deep Scandal. In 1993, she worked alongside Bill Pullman, Julie Brown and Peter Boyle in the romantic comedy Nervous Ticks. What followed after was a career in the TV comedy series The Nanny, where she portrayed the character C.C. Bab!$#!# for six years. Lane was also in Burke’s Law, and is known for her voice work on characters for series like Duckman: Private Dick/Family Man and the video Gen 13. She was later seen on Partners, playing the character Barbara in the episode “My Sister, My Enemy.” In 2001, Lane worked on the short comedy The Cutting Room, directed by Daniel Barnz. Lane then decided to take on a job as a professor at the Texas State University’s theater department in San Marcos, Texas.
