British actor Joseph Morgan, born Joseph Martin is best known as Troy on the BBC cult horror series Hex. Prior to embarking on a professional career, Morgan formally studied acting at the Central School of Speech and Drama. He has since appeared as Captain William Warley in the 2002 Russell Crowe starrer Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. He also got the chance to act alongside fast-rising Colin Farrell, Oscar award winning icon Anthony Hopkins and superstar Angelina Jolie in the Oliver Stone epic, Alexander, where Morgan gave life to the character of Philotas.
Joseph Morgan actually began his career in 2003, appearing in two made-for-TV movies. He was first cast as Matthias in the drama Eroica, before he landed the role of Thomas Culpepper in the historical drama Henry VIII. He was next seen on Hex as Troy, a strikingly handsome student and favorite eye candy for the ladies of Medenham Hall. His character also managed to become the envy and idol of his male peers. However, behind his tough guy fa?ade and macho persona, there lies a shy and unsure young man struggling to mask his insecurities.
After landing parts in Hex and Alexander, Morgan was given the role of Callum on three episodes of the series William and Mary. In 2006, Morgan joined the TV production of Kenneth Williams: Fantabulosa!, as the character Alfie. His next project became the BBC2 miniseries In the Line of Beauty. This was followed by a performance in the drama Mansfield Park, directed by Iain B. MacDonald. Morgan then got a part in the 2007 film Mister Lonely, in which he portrayed the legendary James Dean. He soon got cast as Matthew Williams on the show Silent Witness, appearing in the two-part episode “Suffer the Children.” In 2007, Morgan was cast in the series Doc Martin, as the character Mick Mabley. The next year, the actor signed on to work on the film The Grind, a crime thriller also starring his Hex castmate, Zoe Tapper.
