Biography
Violet ‘Vi’ Parr is the superhero daughter of Bob Parr/Mr. Incredible and Helen Parr/Elastigirl in the Disney and Pixar motion picture The Incredibles. Being a teenager, Violet finds it hard to fit in among her peers, and she tries hard not to be noticed. She weighs about 90 pounds, is 4’6 in height, and has black hair. Violet is initially depicted as a shy and timid girl, most of the time uncertain and socially withdrawn. She prefers to hide behind her long hair, which covers most of her face. She is first seen in a dark blue shirt and dark pants, giving off the idea that she is a rather moody character. She wants to be like everyone else while finding out about how unique she really is. Her powers allow her to instantly render herself invisible, as well as anything she touches. She also has the ability to create powerful and sturdy force fields which she has used in her defense. However, if a heavy, blunt force attacks her force field, Violet can be knocked over inside it and be injured. When she becomes unconscious, her force field dissipates and leaves her vulnerable.
Her brother Dash, constantly teases her about her crush on Tony Rydinger, one of her classmates. In the movie, Violet is too shy to approach him, and even becomes invisible whenever he looks her way. Her lack of confidence was highlighted when she refused to generate a force field to protect the jet that her family rode in. Later on, she realizes the gravity of her powers and learns to control them. She resents having powers, though she has saved her family numerous times in the film. Her ability to deflect heavy artillery headed for them protected her parents and Dash, and Violet became prouder of who she is. She became more outgoing as she got older, even wearing a headband to hold back her hair. Her outfit changes at the end of the movie, and she is seen wearing pink.
Violet is voiced by American author, journalist, humorist and commentator Sarah Vowell, in the English version of The Incredibles.
