Canadian actress Shenae Grimes was born October 24, 1989 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She is half-Irish from her mother’s side. Her first role was as a teenage version of Shania Twain in 2005’s Biography. This was followed by a role in an episode of Kevin Hill, as well as playing Alexa Watson in The Power Strikers. She was next seen in Shania: A Life in Eight Albums, and as Darcy Edwards in the series Degrassi: The Next Generation. She became known for this role, which she reprised in the miniseries Degrassi’s 40 Most Go There-est Moments and the TV movie Degrassi Spring Break Movie. She was seen in a 2006 Coffee Crisp commercial as well.
Shenae Grimes also landed roles in 2006’s Skater Boys and 2007’s 72 Hours: True Crime. Her next role was as Arden Alcott in 13 episodes of Naturally, Sadie, a Disney Channel series which featured her as a recurring guest star. This was followed by her portrayal of Rebecca Harper in an episode of The Latest Buzz. In 2008, she accepted the role of Cayenne in the ABC Family comedy movie Picture This, which starred Ashley Tisdale, Kevin Pollak and Lauren Collins. Collins and Grimes have starred in Degrassi: The Next Generation together. She was also cast as Marissa in True Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet. Grimes has also participated on a Christmas 7” record by the band !$#!#ed Up. It was titled “David Christmas” and the record includes other musical stars and figures Davey Havok, Scott Vogel and Nelly Furtado. Grimes was also slated as a cast member in the Beverly Hills, 90210 spin-off, 90210. Her character will be that of Annie Mills, modeled after Brenda Walsh’s character. Annie Mills moves from Kansas to Beverly Hills in high school, just like how Brenda moved from Minnesota.

Shenae: (About "Degrassi" co-star Shane Kippel) I've spent a lot of time with Shane, and he is one of the sweetest, kindest, funniest people I've ever met in my life. He's such a sweetheart, and I'm so lucky, coming in as a new cast member, to work with somebody who is so warm and just so welcoming. It made my job a lot easier, and my experience a lot better. He was just so fun to work with, and I was a little intimidated. He was my first on-screen kiss, and I was a little intimidated, but he made it so easy, and he was so funny all the time. I love Shane. Nothing but good things to say about Shane.
Shenae: I spend a lot of time going to friends' concerts and gigs and just surrounding myself with as much music as I can. It's a huge part of my life.
Shenae: I love to sing in the car but I'm not very good.
Shenae: I find taking gym classes with friends is motivating and helps keep me fit.
Shenae: It’s tricky but I have good relationships with my teachers and they help me stay on top of my schoolwork when I’m away.
