Biography

Peter Bergman, who was born on June 11, 1953 in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, is a three time Emmy Award winning actor whose notable roles include Dr. Cliff Warner on All My Children , which he played from 1979 to 1987 and 1988-1989, and Jack Abbott on The Young and the Restless, a role he played from 1990 to 2002, and reprised in 2007. He originally auditioned for Dr. Jeff Martin on All My Children , however got another role instead. He brought his role to the Vicks Formula 44 commercial in 1986, saying “I’m not a doctor, but I play one on TV.” Bergman was married to actress Christine Ebersole in 1976, however they divorced in 1981. Four years later, he married his second wife, Mariellen, with whom he has two children with.

State Senator John “Jack” Abbott, Jr. is played by Peter Bergman on The Young and the Restless. Jack is the oldest son of John and Dina Abbott who grew up to be a successful businessman and state senator. Previously being Genoa City’s resident playboy, he was involved with a number of women such as Jill Foster, Diane Jenkins and Patty Williams, whom he married. Jack’s primary rival in business is Victor Newman. Later on, Jack married Victor’s former wife, Nikki. After his short marriage with Nikki, he got involved with Mari Jo Mason, whom he later disowned as she was guilty of shooting Victor. When Diane returned to town, she got back together with Jack and they became engaged, a little before she left him for Victor. Jack then got married to Phyllis Summers, but their marriage once again turned sour as Diane returned with her son Kyle, whom Jack supposedly fathered.
