American actor Eric Millegan was born on August 25, 1974 in Hackettstown, New Jersey. Growing up in Springfield, Oregon, he was involved in musical theater at an early age. His stage debut was in a production of Amahl and the Night Visitors in 1981; it marked his first collaboration with the Eugene Opera, which would continue throughout his early years. He eventually trained at Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan, and later attended University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, taking up musical theater.
Most of Millegan’s acting credits were on stage. After graduating from UM, the openly-gay actor moved to New York and appeared in several Broadway plays. His credits include Jesus Christ Superstar, Hair and Harold & Maude: The Musical, as well as several other play readings and local productions. He also performed in his own cabaret show, Don’t Tell Mama, beginning in 2000. Around the same time, he dabbled on performing for the screen. After providing the narration to the short gay-themed film Soda Pop, he made his screen acting debut in an episode of 100 Centre Street. In 2002, he made his film debut, playing a supporting role in the acclaimed independent film On_Line. He has since starred in the thriller film The Phobic.
After several more guest stints on television, he joined the cast of the police drama Bones. He played the role of Zack Addy, a student and assistant of Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel). A former child prodigy, his character is the closest to the stereotypical geek among the team; he is often unsure of himself, and is unable to stand up to his mentor. In the second season, he received his doctorate degree and became a full-fledged forensic anthropologist. He was a regular in the first three seasons, also he still plays the role as a recurring character in the fourth.
