Dr. David Drew Pinsky was born September 4, 1958 in Pasadena, California. Being a son of a doctor, Drew often went on house calls with his father when he was just a young kid. This created a big influence in his decision to become a doctor. Dr. Drew Pinsky
attended Polytechnic High School where he was an active football player and a dedicated class president. He took up Biology and graduated from Amherst College in 1980. After finishing college, he returned to California and studied at the University of Southern California School of Medicine. He was appointed chief resident doctor at Huntington Memorial Hospital.
In 1983, while he was still in his junior year in medicine, Dr. Drew Pinsky started the radio version of Loveline on KROQ. Loveline tackled drug addiction and alcoholism. The program also offered advices on several matters that affect people of all ages. Eventually, MTV created a television program based on the radio show. It carried the same title and also featured Dr. Drew as the expert on the issues discussed.
Dr. Drew is a board-certified internist and an addiction medicine specialist. He holds classes at the Keck School of Medicine located at USC.
Dr. Drew currently holds his own clinic in Pasadena. He also does the rounds at Las Encinas Hospital. He is married to wife Susan and has triplets named Douglas, Jordan and Paulina. Dr. Drew spends his free time playing with his children and reading by the pool. He is also talented in playing the piano. This baritone also trained for 12 years in singing opera.

. The show documents the experiences of celebrities as they undergo drug, alcohol and addiction treatment program. It chronicles their journey towards rehabilitation and recovery.
