BIOGRAPHY

Born on January 11, 1958, Alyson Reed is an actress who has appeared on many films and TV shows, as well as on Broadway. To younger audiences, she popularly known as Ms. Darbus on the High School Musical Disney film franchise.

A graduate of Anaheim High School, Reed started to hone her acting skills by performing in school plays. One of her biggest roles was in the production of Oliver! where she played the role of Nancy. Two years after graduating, she made her Broadway debut in Dancin’ which was followed by a series of other productions including A Grand Night for Singing, Cabaret, where she was nominated for a Tony Award, and Marilyn: An American Fable where she was nominated for a Drama Desk Award.

On the big screen, Reed is credited for A Chorus Line, Skin Deep, and Manhattan Merengue! Her TV credits, on the other hand, include Ghostwriter, Party of Five, Providence, The Agency, and CSI, just to name a few. She also appeared on the show Chase, as well as the TV Movie Madison High.

FUN FACTS

-She served as Bo Derek’s double in a dream ballet sequence for 10 but the scene was unfortunately edited from the movie.

-Many people compare her to Bette Midler.

-She previously played Alice in Wonderland at Disneyland’s theme park.
