Canadian actor David Cubitt was born on March 18, 1965 to a Dutch mother and a British father. His family moved to Vancouver when he was six. Cubitt studied acting while he was in the university, and later landed his first film role in Alive, starring Ethan Hawke. He has also worked extensively on television, receiving the Gemini Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role in 1997.
Numerous film and television roles soon came after his debut, which was in 21 Jump Street in 1987. He continued gaining small roles, working with Patrick Dempsey and Kelly Preston in the thriller film Run. David Cubitt next got a role in the dramatic adventure K2, and made appearances in series like E.N.G., The X Files, Lonesome Dove: The Series, and Poltergeist: The Legacy. In 1995, he got a role in the drama I Shot a Man in Vegas, following this up with a role in Swann. He later starred in the Canadian series Traders, which ran from 1996 to 1998. He continued to take on roles on made-for-TV movies, such as Major Crime, The Perfect Mother and To Love, Honor & Betray. In 2000, Cubitt was given a role opposite Colm Feore in the drama The Perfect Son. He later played recurring characters in That’s Life and The Outer Limits. He next portrayed Robert Lipyste in the blockbuster Ali, starring Will Smith, Jamie Foxx and Jon Voight. From 2002 to 2003, Cubitt joined the cast of the American series Robbery Homicide Division, as the character Det. Richard Barstow. He was soon cast opposite Patricia Arquette in the series Medium, playing Det. Lee Scanlon on the NBC series. Some of his other work include appearances in The American Embassy, in the TV movie Finding John Christmas, in the series The Eleventh Hour, in 2005’s Bounty Hunters and in 2006’s 10.5: Apocalypse.
