Jonathan Frakes, best known for his portrayal of Commander William T. Riker in the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation and as David Xanatos in the animated television series, Gargoyles, has joined the cast of ABC's V. Instead of flaunting his acting skills however, the 57-year-old actor is working behind the cameras as director.
According to
The V Files, Frakes is directing the sixth episode of
V, which kicked off production on February 16. The said episode called for the casting of a new character, John May, which recently went to
Battlestar Galactica's sexy Cylon Michael Trucco.
This is not a first for Frakes, who has been busy directing in recent years. As a director, he is also credited for
Star Trek: First Contact as well as
Star Trek: Insurrection, which earned him the nickname Two-Takes Frakes for his speed.
As of this moment, there is no word yet on the details surrounding episode 6 other than the fact that it is slated to air on Tuesday, April 6. The said episode is being written by
V co-executive producer Charles Murray and Natalie Chaidez, a former exec producer on
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, who recently joined the crew of
V.
