Former model Veronica Webb is slated to host Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style, and according to the 54-year-old fashion designer, there is no other person more suited for the job.

“I was so crossing every finger, every arm, every leg, every toe that Veronica would say yes. It felt like it was a marriage proposal,” Gunn said of his show’s host.  “I have known of Veronica Webb.  We’d never really met until [her audition] and we just – we really did click.  And she’s as brainy as she is beautiful and I just thought, ‘This is it.  I’ve got to have her.'”

Webb, 42, echoed Tim Gunn’s sentiments, saying that she and Gunn “were meant to be together.”  Like Gunn, she became aware of the great chemistry between them during her audition.

“Tim is exactly — what you see is exactly what you get and he has the most even temper of anyone I have ever met in my life.  He is always kind, he is always patient.  He is always polite.  He is always considerate and he is always genuine,” Webb said.  “First and foremost, Tim is an educator.”

Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style
is an upcoming reality series aimed at helping fashion-challenged women.  Gunn will be in charge of providing the women with vital knowledge about high fashion, while Webb will serve as the women’s shopping assistant.  Although the series is essentially a “makeover” show, Gunn said what makes it distinct is that the “individual is ideally going to have a fashion epiphany that will stay with her forever.  It’s going to be daunting, it’s going to be very emotional.”

Moreover, Tim Gunn says that it is up to the women to step up to the challenge and embrace the changes in store for them.

“Are you really ready to embrace this degree of challenge?  That’s the only way that we can move forward,” Tim Gunn said.  “Veronica and I are there to support you and to help guide you, but the onus of responsibility is really on you.  And it’s going to be difficult.”

Difficult, indeed, but Webb said that though Gunn is known to be critical, he is careful not to crush the spirits of those he tries to help.

“There’s such an incredible outpouring of love for Tim.  People trust him, and they know that while he can be incredibly critical, he’s never crushing,” Webb said.  “It’s really sweet to see their faces as they light up. It’s like Obi-Wan Kenobi to the rescue.”

Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style will premiere on Thursday, September 6 at 10/9c on Bravo.
