It's not going to be an easy time for the bloodsuckers on season 3 of The Vampire Diaries. At Comic-Con we learned that Heroes star Jack Coleman (HRG) is coming to Mystic Falls to beef up the anti-vampire Council, and now they're bringing in another heavy hitter as a vampire hunter.

According to EW, Sebastian Roche, most recently seen as the fun-loving angel Balthazar on the CW's Supernatural, will be showing up on The Vampire Diaries as a mystery man who's hunting down Klaus for multiple episodes.

Roche added great whimsy to his role on Supernatural while still getting deadly serious when he needs to be, and having him back on the CW is great for fans. He should be able to disarm the intensity of Klaus.

Although on the other hand, you can't like his chances for survival. Hunting Klaus is essentially a suicide mission now that he's a virtually indestructible werevamp, so I expect Roche's time on The Vampire Diaries to end as abruptly and lethally as his role on Supernatural.

Roche also makes yet another in a long series of new cast additions for The Vampire Diaries season 3. David Gallagher (7th Heaven) will show up as a werewolf who has a run-in with Klaus. Lilly Roberson will play a potential love interest for Tyler. Claire Holt (Pretty Little Liars) will be a vampire from Stefan's past. And Danielle Panabaker (who co-starred in Friday the 13th with Supernatural's Jared Padalecki) will play a witch who's also a vampire (a vampwitch).

The Vampire Diaries returns Thursday, September 15 at 8pm on the CW.
