Looks like the most controversial women of the Bravo’s Real Housewives franchise are teaming up to back up Danielle Staub of The Real Housewives of New Jersey. Earlier this month, Kelly Bensimon, arguably the most hated member of The Real Housewives of New York, has urged people to give Staub a second chance. Now, NeNe Leakes from The Real Housewives of Atlanta wants critics to leave Staub alone.

“For someone to criticize someone about something they’ve done in their 20s is absolutely bananas,” Leakes told E! Online’s Marc Malkin. “Who hasn’t made a mistake while they were in their 20s? Everyone had!”

“Most people do things that they are not proud of when they are in their 20s,” the Atlanta star continued. “I’ve made mistakes. So have Teresa, Dina, Caroline and Danielle. Honey, I hope they don’t pull apart my closet from when I was 21. There’s a lot of stuff up in there.”

Leakes, the kind of person you’d want to have your back in the reality TV circuit, is a real estate entrepreneur and a mother of two. She’s the founder of the Twisted Hearts Foundation, which addresses domestic violence against women and has won the Bravo A-List Award for “Guiltiest Reality Pleasure” in 2009.

Meanwhile, Staub, who is already talking to publishers about a book, is determined to do a second season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey more than ever.

“There’s so much that I have to say,” Staub said. “It’s definitely going to be geared towards empowering women. I have a lot of people emailing me in a real positive light and saying they’re looking to me for courage to stop bullying. It’s about confronting people when you have an issue you want to address instead of letting it go…The message now is to build each other up instead of tearing each other apart.”
