the golden girlsBetty White was popularly known as Rose Nylund on The Golden Girls.  She comically depicted a naïve, simple and kind-hearted housemate of Blanche Devereaux (Rue McClanahan), Dorothy Zbornak (Beatrice Arthur) and Sophia Petrillo (Estelle Getty).  Known for her rambling and absurd stories, she often talked about her bizarre hometown, St. Olaf, Minnesota, which her housemates had to put up with.  Out of the four women, she was arguably the most involved in charity work, being a perennial runner up for a Volunteer of the Year award.  Along with her upbeat personality, she added energy and humor to the show with her agility, ability to do cartwheels, and tendency to scare easily.  Towards the end, she continued to live with Blanche, and Sophia in their purchased Golden Palace Hotel where she became in charge of housekeeping.  In the coming months, the 85-year-old actress will be gracing the big screen with a romantic drama movie.

At present, Betty White is busy filming the movie Love N' Dancing.  She plays Irene, joining lead stars Amy Smart as Jessica Donovan and Tom Malloy as Jake Mitchell.  The film revolves around Jessica, a bored English teacher who meets and sparks instant attraction with Jake, a West Coast Swing champion dancer.  One has a workaholic fiancée and the other has a former partner who just won't let him go.  Jake and Jessica must try to elude all obstacles, romantic or otherwise, while pursuing each other and winning the World Title.  The romantic drama is also written by Malloy and is expected to hit the theaters later this year.

After Golden Girls, Betty White reprised her iconic TV role on the short-lived spin-off The Golden Palace.  Although she remained visible on television with her numerous guest roles, she also became part of several movies like Hard Rain, The Story of Us and Lake Placid.  Following a series of voiceover work for animated movies and TV programs, she landed recurring roles on That ‘70s Show, The Practice, Everwood, and Boston Legal.  Most recently, she returned on The Bold and the Beautiful as Ann Douglas.
