Tonight, Jillian Harris' quest to find love begins as the new season of
The Bachelorette unfolds. And like most fans, Jillian's father, Glenn Harris, is optimistic that his 30-year-old daughter will find her future husband among the 30 men competing for her attention.
"I hope she meets someone that has honest and great feelings for her, and they can move forward after the show to create a solid relationship that could possibly turn into a marriage, and hopefully, a family," Glen Harris said from his home in Kelowna.
Prior to being cast on
The Bachelorette, Jillian first appeared on
The Bachelor 13 as one of the bachelorettes vying for the affection of love searcher Jason Mesnick. She became famous for her hotdog theory of dating and came in third place in the competition. Jason ended up proposing to Melissa Rycroft but later dumped her for runner-up Molly Malaney. In spite of everything, Jillian and Jason have remained friends.
"It's the type of character she is. She never holds a vendetta [against] anyone in any situation and she's a compassionate, loving human being," Glen said.
Of course, Glenn wouldn't reveal any details about the outcome of the new season of
The Bachelorette but says that he's extremely excited for Jillian. He's even watching the two-hour season opener with family and friends.
"We won't have a big bash or event because first thing the next day, we'll be heading [out of town]," he said. "But we're all looking forward to it big time. It's been an enormous event in Jillian's life and it's affected ours as well. We're super proud of the way she has handled herself."
Fans can catch the premiere of
The Bachelorette tonight on ABC. Also, stay tuned for Meghan Carlson's recap of the season opener.
