Dance veteran Benjamin “Benji” Daniel Schwimmer had won many dance competitions since he was a child but soared to stardom when he was crowned winner of So You Think You Can Dance season two. Although he was not much of a technical dancer, he was well admired for his enthusiasm and entertaining presence. His triumph on the Fox’s dance program was especially memorable for him since the contest required versatility in various dance genres, and the verdict of his victory was done not by a panel of judges, but by American phone-in voters.

After So You Think You Can Dance, Schwimmer went on a North American tour with the rest of the top ten finalists on the show, starting from Seattle, Washington, to Providence, Rhode Island. He appeared on the program Live with Regis and Kathie Lee, The Megan Mullally Show, and in Christina Aguilera’s music video entitled “Candyman.” He also came up with an instructional dance DVD with cousin Heidi Groskreutz, which he promoted on Fox’s New Years Eve show. Most recently, he performed at the Reno Dance Sensation, a 4-day long West Coast Swing and Salsa championship show.

Currently, Schwimmer is busy with his first feature film entitled For Love and Dance, which will also include Groskreutz. For Love and Dance, which is scheduled for release next year, will feature Schwimmer and Groskreutz as champion swing dancers.
