It seems to be a tighter race between the men this season on So You Think You Can Dance than the women.  There are definitely female dancers who are bringing their talent and their personality to the able.  There are some who just bring one or the other and those are the ones who are going to find themselves in trouble over the next few weeks as the battle for Top 10 heats up.  Success on So You Think You Can Dance depends on many things from the right routine to the right partner.  Some of the girls seems to have gotten the luck of the draw this season while others encounter an obstacle each week.  It’s no surprise who takes the top spot in this week’s power rankings, especially after Adam Shenkman called her “a true competitor”.

7. Comfort Fedoke

I think I’ve just about had it with Comfort. Yes, she’s the only female hip hop dancer on the show but she fails to impress me, whether she’s with a partner or performing a solo. Perhaps it was difficult for her to have chemistry with former partner Chris Jarosz but it almost looked like she wasn’t putting out an effort. With Thayne as her new partner, I don’t expect she’ll fare any better and should be dancing for her life again this week.

6. Jessica King
Like Chris Jarosz this season, Jessica has had a tough time with the judges.  I think they’re too in love with Will to even notice her but I don’t think she’s a bad dancer or a weak partner.  That tango was pretty awful a few weeks back but other than that, I think she’s done very well for herself.  Unfortunately, when the judges get it in their heads that they want someone gone, they find a way to make it happen and that’s where Jessica is in trouble.

5. Kourtni Lind

I’m kind of at a loss with Kourtni right now.  Yes, she’s a talented dancer but she doesn’t seem to be bringing much to the table.  Her routines have not impressed this season and her one chance to really prove herself in a contemporary routine last week turned out to be one of the weirdest things I’ve ever seen.  I want so much for Kourtni and Matt to succeed but me wanting them to do well won’t be enough to keep them in this competition beyond another week or two.

4. Courtney Galiano
Courtney was my favorite dancer going into this season of So You Think You Can Dance.  I like her and I’ve warmed up to her partner, Gev.  They continue to improve week after week which I think is what part of this competition is all about.  Unfortunately, another component is personality.  This show is looking for America’s Favorite Dancer, not America’s Best Dancer.  She’s going to need to step up her game, in the personality department, in order to take out Kherington or Katee.

3. Kherington Payne
Kherington’s hip hop routine with Twitch this week was, in fact, the lesser of the two that Tabitha and Napoleon D’Umo choreographed. However, Kherington continues to show her personality in her videos and a ton of charisma and energy when she is on stage. She is partnered with one of the most popular male contestants. She holds her own when she is with him. She’s just fine for now and will make the Top 10 without a hitch.

2. Chelsie Hightower

Chelsie continues to impress me and this competition needs a solid ballroom dancer. Chelsie is more than just that, though. She can dance in any style and really impressed in last week’s hip hop routine, choreographed by Tabitha and Napoleon D’Umo. This piece was better than their other, which featured Twitch and Kherington. Right now, the better routine is the only thing separating Kherington and Chelsie in my book.

1. Katee Shean

Well, right now it seems that Katee and Josh have a ticket on the hot tamale train that take them straight top the Top 10. It may take them all the way to the finale, who knows? Josh and Katee perform with a passion that outshines every other dancer this season. The others are going to have to really step it up to catch up with them. They’re true competitors and they’re not here for anything other than first place.
