As
reported previously,
Cybill Shepherd, most recently known for her stint on
The L Word, has signed on to appear on
Psych to play Spencer's (
James Roday) mom Madeleine, a private practice psychologist who, after spending a few years abroad, returns to Santa Barbara to pay her ex-hubby and son a visit but ends up helping them with a case. Now, another actor has been added on the comedy series, marking the latest expansion in Shawn's family.
Thanks to
TV Guide, we now know that
Steven Weber will be appearing on
Psych, which returns for a third season on July 18. The 47-year-old actor will be playing Henry's (
Corbin Bernsen) brother, and thus Shawn's uncle.

I'm not so thrilled about Weber joining the
cast of Psych. He always reminds me of
a serial killer more ...
Weber most recently appeared on
Brothers & Sisters as Graham Finch, a specialist in Asian markets working with Ojai Foods who had a flirtatious relationship with Sara (
Rachel Griffiths). Prior to landing a role on the ABC drama, he recurrently appeared as Matthew Braden on
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and was cast as network boss Jack Rudolph on NBC's
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.
Although Webber has appeared on numerous TV shows, he is arguably best known for his role as a skirt-chasing airplane pilot on the sitcom
Wings. This is in sharp contrast to his critically praised performance in the television mini-series version of Stephen King's
The Shining, playing the alcoholic murderous Jack Torrance.
Meanwhile,
Psych isn't the only upcoming acting gig for Webber this year. In fact, he is currently working on
Blue World, a thriller film based on the short story of Robert McCammon.
Weber is also slated to join
My One and Only, a comedy movie directed by Richard Loncraine. The film is set in the 1950s and follows the story of the glamorous Anne Deveraux, who embarks on a drive down the Eastern Seaboard in an idealistic search for a wealthy man to fund a new life for her and her sons.
