The drama isn’t subsiding whatsoever as season 2 of Nashville heads into the home stretch — and that’s exactly the way viewers like it. So what can we expect from the rest of the season? Will there ever be calm waters in the country music capital?

BuddyTV spoke with star Connie Britton, whose character, Rayna James, is right in the thick of the action — not necessarily the one causing issues, but she’s there to witness it all. Britton talked with us about the finale, the events that lead to the season 2 closer, a certain White House guest star and Rayna’s album launch.

As fans know, First Lady Michelle Obama is stopping by in the second to last episode, but that’s not the only reason why it’s a big episode. Britton mentioned that they filmed at Fort Campbell Army Base. With the First Lady’s involvement with military families, this seems like a very fitting storyline and location for her. And aside from FLOTUS, there’s another reason to tune in, and it involves American soldiers.

But in these final hours of the season, “From here to the end … these were really strong episodes and very packed with story,” Britton said. As Rayna gets ready for the launch of her new album, it could have big implications for her record label. She also revealed that there are some twists coming up that not only will surprise the audience, but also surprised Britton herself when she read the script.

And since music is a major part of Nashville, I asked her about the process of performing and recording music. Does she enjoy this aspect of the show or find it scary? Or is it a bit of both?

Watch the entire interview below to also find out about other projects Connie Britton is working on, including a movie coming out in September, and her partnership with POND’s, which she considers to be “such a classic, iconic brand” — but how do the products help her? Find out below.

Are you looking forward to the final episodes of season 2? And are you excited to see Michelle Obama make an appearance?

Nashville airs Wednesdays at 10pm on ABC.
