LA Ink star
Kat Von D is looking to set a Guinness World Record, and she's imploring anyone who's interested to help her do it.
In a recent posting on her MySpace blog, the 25-year-old tattoo artist announced that she is finally going to try to set a record for “the most tattoos done in a 24 hour period” by one person. It's all going to happen at her Los Angeles-based tattoo shop, High Voltage Tattoo, on Friday, December 14.
“I know it's short notice, but here's your chance to help me out AND be part of history!” Kat Von D said in her blog post. “I'm gonna be tattooing for 24 HOURS STRAIGHT, and I'm aiming at doing 400 tattoos! I'm pretty sure with the help of everyone, this can be an amazing and fun success!”
Kat Von D's attempt to set a record will begin at 12 noon and end at the exact same time the following day. She will be doing an “‘LA' tattoo logo that was approved by Guinness, on anyone who wants to be a part of this!!”
As required by the Guinness Board, the size of the tattoo will not be less than 2.25 x 2 inches. It will also consist of two colors, black and red.
Kat Von D will be charging $20 for each tattoo, and all those who are interested have been advised not to make appointments, as the process will be on a first come, first serve basis.
All of the proceeds from Friday's attempt will go to Vitamin Angels, a non-profit organization that provides supplements to developing countries and communities that are in dire nutritional need.
During the 24-hour period, the tattoo shop, which also serves as the setting for
LA Ink, will be closed to regular walk-ins.
“I'm hoping a lot of people will be able to show up!!” Von D said. “If everything goes smoothly and I can set this record, it'll be so awesome to share this moment with the 400 of you who helped me out!!”
In addition, the potentially record-setting event will be featured in an episode of
LA Ink's second season, which is currently being filmed.
