ABC Family's Kyle XY
is once again at the receiving end of much recognition as the sci-fi family drama is nominated for several Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films – aka Saturn – awards.
The show, which revolves around a superhuman teen living with a normal suburban family, is up for a Saturn Award for Best Syndicated/Cable Television Series. It's competing against such equally popular shows as Showtime's Dexter
, SCI FI Channel's Battlestar Galactica
and Stargate SG-1
, and TNT's The Closer
and Saving Grace
. This is the second time the show has been nominated in the category.
stars Matt Dallas
and Jaimie Alexander
also received nods for their work on the series. Dallas, who portrays the titular pod-born character, is nominated for Best Actor in a Television series, going up against such names as Matthew Fox
), Michael C. Hall
), Kevin McKidd
), Edward James Olmos
) and Lee Pace
). This is the second nomination for the Dallas in the same category.
As for Alexander, who portrays Kyle's female counterpart Jessi XX, the 24-year-old actress is nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series, alongside such stars as Jennifer Carpenter
), Summer Glau (Terminator: The Sara Connor Chronicles
), Elizabeth Mitchell
), Jamie Murray (Dexter
) and Hayden Panettiere
). This is the first Saturn Award nomination for Alexander.
The 34th Annual Saturn Awards will take place on Tuesday, June 24 in Universal City, California. Meanwhile, some of the show's cast and crew are expected to make an appearance at this year's Paley Festival in Hollywood as part of the event's second leg. The date for the show's panel, as well as which cast and crew members are attending, has yet to be announced, although the second leg is expected to kick off on March 28.
